At least it will be fun to play, unlike GTA4. It'll probably have a better story too.

Post by: chronovore on August 26, 2008, 08:47:20 PM: I hate to be one of those jackoffs who says "it doesn't look any better than the last game" without even checking footage of the previous title's actual graphics, so I went and looked at older footage. The new game does look better, but mostly it's bloom fx and better shading. Poly count or normal mapping use has also improved but overall the game is not much more impressive than SR1's visuals.

OTOH, I'm very hopeful that they didn't hobble the gameplay like GTA4 did from its own predecessors.

Post by: chronovore on August 29, 2008, 08:44:58 PM: In the "Flying" trailer, it's hilarious that they included the biplane and Apache, since there were both of those in GTA San Andreas. It's like they're pointing out that GTA4 is a step back from its own previous achievements.

Speaking of Achievements... I wonder when those will get leaked. ;)

Racing in the FBI SUV prevented me from having to destroy furniture in my living room. Also the drug dealer missions were all but impossible until I was reminded that The Saints are EVERYWHERE, and I recruited assloads of them during the mission, at which point they at least distracted the hordes of FBI agents and rival gangs pursuing me.

Biggest FAQ find is the Security Truck glitch. Whooo! Until I'd finished a few hitman side missions, I was screwed for cash, making the gun shop guy rich beyond his dreams.

Big Ass Chains and Team BAC are really spotty for population. Blinged Out Ride, if you get two teams of 6-8 together, is really fun -- but more often than not you get 3 people per side and then two people drop from one team.

But the worst is trying to play through Protect Tha Pimp, which runs a better than 50% chance of having a pair of teamkillers in it who will kill everyone on their team at the outset. Sometimes they're just griefing for lulz, but other times they seem to be clearing the round until they can try the mission alone. Anyway, it's a big, big oversight on Volition's part.

About 2 minutes later, you'll wish you hadn't bothered.

Seriously, online is SAD in SR1. I'm praying Volition has learned from their mistakes and looked at other MP games for ways to address abuse.

I'm at Level 8 for all 3 groups... I cant do any of them

Yeah, that was one of my favorite glitches too.

Dealing Lvl 8 on all areas? I stalled there for a while, too. Just get used to spamming the "recruit" button as you drive, and use the rocket launcher on medium and far distance cars when you can, shotguns on closer cars, IIRC.

Demi, it looks like you've really been rolling through the Achievements the past couple of days. Fluffer was really difficult for me for some reason; it really depended on where the client wanted to go, and which roads were taken. Getting on the freeway, like in The Matrix Reloaded, was suicide.

FWIW: Coupon Clipper (100 multiplayer wardrobe items) can be had easily by getting the free DLC pack, then buying one of each item in each color. Negotiator (50 hostages) is a cinch near Chinatown, because there's an F&F you can just scream through as soon as the hostage capitulates.

I've got no choice to agree with you on the soundtrack and story; the damned thing took itself WAY too seriously, and the all-urban music selection of unknowns is inferior to Liberty City Stories collection of fake pop bands.
