This site has never really been credible, but as of late the gaming-related stupidity they've been churning out has been...well...just click the link and you'll see.
Typical Gamesradar stupidity. (http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/resident-evil-5/preview/lgc-08-why-wait-leipzigs-biggest-games-reviewed-now/a-20080826102234267033/g-2005138888000000020757)
I'd boycott them, but who cares enough to make a stand against a gaming site?

Killzone 2 Multiplayer - PS3
Score: 5
:lol
Kojima himself played it, said he thought it needed alot of work...
Never a good sign.

He was talking specifically about the controls actually, which is the same thing GR is complaining about.

I hope that game bombs just to shut people up.
Honestly, so overrated. Fucking graphics do terrible things to gamers, they stop caring about gameplay.
-
Nah, I just think Kojima is a hack and I've never cared for Gamesradar.
-
Motorstorm 2 also got a 6. I bet Duckman's glad about getting got another 360.
-
One hour of Fallout 3 getting a 10/10 pleases me.

The worst thing about Killzone 2 is how Sony somehow felt obligated that they should live up to the expectations they set at E3 05.
-
i love how you guys make a thread, first about how the author is 'filth', and then proceed to take their word as the definitive source when they bash sony games :lol.

The only people excited for Killzone 2 weren't around for the let down of the first.
Exact. Same. Promise.
On another note, I think Motorstorm 2 will be higher than a 6, and PURE (which I've played) is easily an 8.

not this shit again :lol
-
Looking forward to Killzone 2. I want to buy a PS3 for that game. I hate how the game was hyped by Sony, empty promises, etc. I thought the first game was fun

Nonsense. I'm not going to say that I'm excited for it, I'm not ready to take that leap of faith. But I'm interested. And I fiercely disliked Killzone; I first played it at E3 04, thought it was buggy garbage. Wollan managed to fool me into thinking that there were improvements on the way (never trust Wollan), and the game was of course shit. I was totally enchanted by its presentation, its architecture and industrial designs, but the combat never felt right, and the bugs made a joke out of the whole thing. I've also been pretty damned critical of Killzone 2, due to this legacy of making well presented, shitty games.
But, this finally looks interesting. At the very least, the multiplayer does. It looks like everything good about COD4, and with all the improvements to that formula that I could ask for. And it looks hot. We'll see how good it is, but it's hardly received universally negative impressions. In fact, most of what I've seen has been positive, but hey, these are previews.

MotorStorm 2 is going to genuinely kick ass though. MotorStorm very nearly did, hadn't it been for the god damned loading, some bugger A.I. and night courses sans fucking headlights. And the environments got pretty old, but they've already remedied that.
-
COD5 co-op :hyper

COD5 co-op :hyper
Treyarch.
Moving on.
-
Motorstorm has serious potential, since the problems with the first game are correctable.
Absolutely, and I felt that the first one was a quality title with nothing more than a lack of courses.

whatever, looks good to me, i liked cod3
people love to suck an infinity ward dick but cod2 360 online was fuckbusted for months before they even acknowledged there was a problem, and cod4 is just reskinned codwhatevernumber

I never got that far in Motorstorm to see the night courses. The loading times killed the game for me. But from what little I played, I could tell why it got some decent reviews. MS1 had a nice engine and the handling was good for an arcade racer. The main problems with the gameplay, like you mentioned, were the cheap as hell AI and the mixing of large and small vehicles in a race. It sucked to ride a motorcyle because you'd keep getting trampled by larger vehicles.

The gamesradar guy concurs that the level designs and graphics are pretty tight. It's the controls that irked him, to the point that he would give it a 5. This is somewhat concerning, especially for a FPS's MP because I'm not sure the "feel" of a FPS is something that can be easily corrected. Most console FPS games don't completely click with me because I never feel at one with the controls. Halo is really the only console FPS that has ever felt comfortable for me because it has just the right amount of auto-aiming and analog stick sensitivity.
-
MS2 has huge promise, if I have the time this fall it's the first PS3 game that makes the list.
-
One critical issue with MotorStorm, and I realize that I'm probably in the minority here, was that you had to complete races with various vehicles to progress in the game. That's fine, for some vehicles; if you like driving a buggy, chances are you will like the mudplugger, and vice versa. But forcing you to drive a big rig? That wasn't right. I hope the new one isn't as strict when it comes to how you progress in the game.
-
I don't think it's such a bad idea to give people the chance to experiment with every vehicle type - but I only fucked around with a friend's copy.

COD4 really clicked with me, for some reason. It just felt spot on, to a point where I honestly preferred gamepad controls to kb+m. Halo 3 is a recent one that you can tell was designed from the ground up for a controller and just works, but it still doesn't feel as good as COD4. Although, that may just be because I'm a bit tired of the bulletsponge stuff, making combat less satisfying.
In regards to Killzone 2, I'm not taking previews seriously at this point; post funny tinfoil hat images if you want, but there is no way I'm going to be convinced that media in general isn't extra critical of Killzone 2. There have just been too many odd complaints that were nowhere to be seen when the same dudes previewed other games. And hey, I can understand why, but at some point they need to let it go. And when they aren't critical, I worry that they are doing the whole "sacred preview build" shit, which also sucks.
No, if I'm concerned about controls, it's because Guerrilla has made it that way. I remember playing Halo 2 right after playing Killzone, and at that point it dawned on me exactly how god awful the controls in Killzone were.

I really wish video game reviewers wouldn't give number scores.
No Score > Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Stupid number score

Buy
Try
Rent
Skip
-
Buy
Try
Rent
Skip
Try and Rent are basically the same thing.
And Rent is not a viable option since eventually you won't be able to rent certain games anymore.
-
That's why there's Try
-
That's why there's Try
That's too confusing.
What are they going to say? "Rent, but will become Try once you can't rent the game anymore"
And it's not really practical to buy a game on eBay or something just to try it out. The absolutely ideal way to review a game is to not give it a score at all, partly because it actually encourages literacy.
-
Because no one can buy every game, top tier must-play games could get a buy but YMMV on games that aren't quite at that level.
I wouldn't tell someone to rent something like Lost Odyssey for the 3 months it takes to beat it, but it's not a must-buy for anyone but fans of the genre.
If you don't like it that's ok, I'm not planning on kicking off a magazine anytime soon.
-
Hmm, most of those games on that list don't look that interesting... aside from RE5 and SF4. I don't at all understand the Fallout 3 hype, and this is coming from a serious RPG fan.

Really? I've never tried COD4 on consoles. I'll plug in a 360 controller and see if the PC version supports the pad by default.
What kind of analog sensitivity levels do you use with the PS3 pad? I tried really hard to be good at Uncharted but I just couldn't get the stick to move the way I want it to, like in Halo.

uhh, the AI didn't get "cheap" until later in the game. and the variety in vehicles was part of what made motorstorm awesome. getting trampled while riding a motorcycle was merely the risk in the risk/reward of choosing to use a motorcycle.

Oh...lord.

To think some people actually view GR as a legitimate news source...same thing with N4G as far as filth goes (GR owns them). Nothing but Sony bias even in the 360 and PC articles.

They liked SF4 :)

Does Ferricide still write for Gamesradar? That's the only reason I'd even read that site.
