ASUS | Eee PC (http://eeepc.asus.com/global/): I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these for email/web use around the house. The Wife loves the little Panasonic Let's Note R4 which work provided to me, but it's work's machine, not mine -- and by extension "not hers." Do any of you have an opinion on these little buggers, or suggestion of alternatives for similar functionality?

i have a 901 20GB and it is FUCK AWESOME. i used to have a 4G and it was not so much awesome.

I have a 900 and it RULES. Perfect for traveling, presentations, flights, old school pc gaming. It's so fucking awesome.
Just make sure you get the 900/901 model.

I am still on the 701 series, but it's fucking great. Plan on upgrading to the 901 when I get the chance; originalz is willing to buy my old 701 so that's half the cost of the new one right there.
Stores here now have the MSI Wind too. Shit ton of HD space, but it's not Solid State so fuck it.

I see there's a 1000 series already too, and that will probably hit Japan within a few months, but these prices keep going up and up. Don't see the point of spending so much on a subnotebook.

What's the difference between the 900 and the 901? Because I can get the 900 with 8GB more, for less then the 901.

901 has the 1.6 ghz atom processor and massive battery life. the 900 has the 900 mhz celeron and crap battery life. get the 901.

Ok, now the choice is between Linux with 20GB and Windows with 12GB.
Will I need the extra 8GB, will I like Linux when I've never used it?

Yeah, I also have quite a bit of GB's in external storage devices, because I always freak out about these kind of things.
I just have to keep only the current stuff on the eeePC.

up to 128GB, if yer willing to shell out the cash, OR you can put a 80GB 1.8" HD in there.

You can take out 8 of the 12 GB and replace it with more GB's?
What is the technical name of the stuff you can put in it, so I can google the prices?
Also, I already ordered the 12GB one, because I'm an impatient impulse buyer.

zif (zero insertion force) ssd (solid state drive) or hd (hard drive). the 1.8 inch models, in particular.

battery life isnt THAT bad. i still get almost 3hrs out of my 900.
