Square Enix's takeover would help the company gain a stronger foothold in the U.S. market with popular Tecmo titles like the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive games. What's more, Tecmo's games will help strengthen Square Enix's current portfolio, which is heavily dependent on RPGs.

Square + Enix + Taito + Tecmo = legion of cool (Taito is a pretty lame company but they have ZUN so that makes them a little ok in my book)

I rather think FF-DQ would be a higher priority. Money waiting to be printed while Nomura fucks around with his zippers and buckles.

Not necessarily. They still haven't made a FF/DQ crossover RPG (which actually makes a lot of sense and would benefit from massive sales).

What I hope they do is make an action game using Tecmo's talents. NG gameplay + Square Enix graphical art = yum yum yum.

Post by: recursivelyenumerable on August 29, 2008, 04:06:39 PM: funfact: Masato Kato, the director of Chrono Cross/scenario writer of Chrono Trigger, who left SE a while back but still does freelance work for them (on the recent Mana games), also did the original character design and cutscene graphics for Ninja Gaiden (NES), wrote/directed the cutscenes for NG2, and was in charge of level design for NG3. Hajime Tabata, the director of Crisis Core, Agito and 3rd Birthday, is also ex-Tecmo (he worked on the Deception series).
