I like cloaking :D

Looks alright.
Probably plays like shit, though. Typical Bethesda.

I think it will probably play much better than Oblivion due to the fact that melee combat isn't the focus. Melee combat requires a lot of higher quality animation and collision detection work in order to feel solid and, well, they couldn't really pull it off in their previous games. The general look of the combat here seems quite a bit smoother than anything in Oblivion, though still below par for the FPS genre. So, at the very least, combat should be reasonably entertaining.

Compared to other shooters, this doesn't stand a chance. The shooting and weapons just look unsatisfying. Bethesda's inexperience in this field shows greatly.
The pausing thing just unbalances the real-time (shooting) skill element and looks like a cheap a way out for Bethesda. Rather than fix the clunky shooting they probably said, 'Hey let's give the player the ability to kill enemies in one shot, in slow-mo. That'll cover up our crappy shooting system. High Five!'
This is like Bioware and Mass Effect all over again.
These rpg developers really need to employ experts from the fps genre to bring their respective games up a notch. Or they should just stick to PC point and clicks.

The gunplay need not ruin the game, though. Deus Ex, for instance, was a very popular game (one of my favorites as well) and it featured some truly pitiful gunplay and enemy AI. Same goes for System Shock 2, really (though it's not quite as bad as Deus Ex). Fallout 3 seems superior to those games in that regard (which it should be, considering its release time frame). Poor gunplay has always been an unfortunate staple of these open ended adventure/RPG/shooter hybrids. I honestly can't think of any similar game that actually featured GREAT gunplay. Vampire Bloodlines used the source engine and still handled like shit as did STALKER released last year.

I like Mass Effect, but it did have bad shooting mechanics. Not as bad as Jade Empire's fighting mechanics, but still really bad.
Biggest problem with Fallout 3 shooting mechanics are that they put so many targets on the enemy for VATS, so when using manual aim, you have to be expected to have some kind of super accuracy. People buying this console will probably always be using VATS. I mean, that crab enemy was like the Death Star or some shit with having to shoot a tiny hole in the middle of it's body.

you guys are gay. that looked incredible. especially tenpenny tower

The E3 video was cool, but didn't really show off much aside from VATS and few other small things. These videos on the other hand really show off, to me, why this is going to be a really great game.
Plus I liked Stalker and Mass Effect so questionable shooting mechanics don't bother me too much if the rest of the game is good.

It did look awesome, but I still don't think Bethesda is that good at character modeling despite the massive improvements from Oblivion.
-
Bethesda's well known weaknesses show a little sometimes, but in spite of that I think it looks brilliant. Tons of things are a huge step up from Oblivion.
I don't feel the desire to use VATS very much, but thankfully it doesn't seem to be required in most cases. The normal FPS stuff looks fine.

Shooting guys' limbs and heads off and nuking a whole town is what passes for boring these days? smh
-
The character animation for this game...and all of the boring gameplay... :lol
That explosion was amazing, though. This is a rent for me.

Fallout 3 Achievements

Getting 1000 might take time, but it looks like you should get a good chunk of them just playing through once. That's good.

They look good - a lot like Oblivion's achievements which I also liked. I'm not sure about those karma ones, I hope we don't have to three separate characters because if so I probably won't get them.
