I want it but I won't buy it right away, maybe in a week or two.
-
:'(

This is gonna tank (again). I hate to say it, but I'll wait for the bargain bins.
Me too. I never played VP1, so I'm kinda interested in this.
-
its already cheap in australia, (AUS$70 v AUS$100 for normal releases). Same with Banjo.
still ill probably wait till later in the year to get it
-
Sonofabitch. I didn't realize it was coming out tomorrow at all. I may have to wait until friday to snag it.
-
Microsoft is working DOUBLE TIME to tank this game, unless the idea is just to put it on shelves and promo it later. I'll pick it up in November.
-
Yeah, this literally had no marketing on a store level. And - shit! - we had marketing for Too Human even. I think I have two pre-orders for this and one of them is from a friend who loves the original and reserved it at my store as a favor.
-
I'm all over it. Its the game that drew my girlfriend into gaming, so we're definitely not missing out. Plus it has co-op play. It could be the same game with that one small improvement and I'd still get it. AND its only $40. That's the dealmaker right there.
And I've been seeing marketing all over in print form. Comics, magazines, etc.
-
I'll probably get it... I'd like to get 1000 on VP first before I bother
-
will get from amazon for sure.

What magazines - GamePro? That's exactly the kind of marketing Viva Pinata doesn't need. Yet, the mainstream marketing, television and store based, is completely absent. It's sick. I've seen MAYBE some free cover art. But when Microsoft can spend the dough to make a Too Human endcap, this should've easily gotten TWO. Or some cashwrap space.
-
I love the fact that they hired someone in Taiwan to write the copy for that banner.
-
There are ZERO reviews for this out there
-
EGM gave it A
-
gamespot just gave it 8.5 (first was 8.3)
-
Ebay has this for the ridiculous price of £18.98 delivered from Hong Kong region free. Biggest problem will be keeping the other half off the 360!
-
VP1 was one of the most addicting games I've ever played. The effort/reward cycle was a masterpiece of Pavlovian mischief. So many days I ended up going to bed HOURS after I'd planned to. Hell, HOURS after I'd said, "Only 5 more minutes" to myself... :lol
-
I tried to buy this at Gamestop. Not only did they have 0 copies, the lady was CONVINCED it wasn't out for a few more months.
-
Most stores won't receive it until tomorrow. I'm not sure why folks thought majority of the stores would get overnight delivery for Viva Pinata 2! :lol

I mean. Tuesday is game day. All of the other 9/2 games were in.
-
No more games until RB2. :-\
I really liked the first one, but I'll be damned if I buy this for more than $20. It'll be there before black friday.
-
I've heard that this is EXTREMELY similar to the first game. Like, expansion pack similar.
-
yeah, it's a safe sequel.
if you want something a little bit different, there is that ds pinata game coming in few more days.
-
i dont see myself buying this. i'm bailing.
-

This is why I'm waiting until it's super cheap. As much as I liked Viva Pinata, it's hard to justify dropping $40 on what could have been DLC instead of a sequel.
But to be honest, that's crap. All reviews so far say there is plenty of new content, hence the high review scores.
-
I may trade in GTA 4 so I can snag this tommorrow. Since no one here seems to have actually played it.
-
I plan to buy it after it bombs and it's 20 new, just like I should have done with the first game. I paid full price and even got the god awful special package.
-
But did you dislike the game? I feel like I played a hundred bucks' worth of game, and got skooled in the ways of addictive gameplay, and possible ways to bring an RTS mindset to console without overly complicating it.
-
Viva DS is out, btw
Thank the Euros

Sometimes you post bullshit and I'm all like, "That Demi guy is no good" and then you clue me in on shit like this and I wanna give you a rubdown.

Got it today. Girlfriend had the day off work, spent about 3 hours with it. Says its really familiar, but the new additions like snow and sand are interesting and fun. She's bummed that everything fucking costs a bunch of money though and she's totally broke. More later.
-
More on your girlfriend. She got fat tits?

Like my avatar. :)
-
I think I'm gonna go pick this up on my lunch hour.
-
Quick Q: Is the garden bigger in this one?
-
I didn't think this was a sequel... I thought it was more like "Viva Pinata: Again" with a few extras thrown in.

It sort of is... and sort of isn't...
Like, they added a whole lot to the gameplay, new tutorials, challenges, story elements, mini games, etc.
But You're still focused in the same area, same characters, etc.
Its very very close to being a sequel though.
I'd totally play VP1: The Expansion Pack.
-
Oh, and it has a stat tracking page, like Halo 3. Fucking awesome.
I just might buy this new now.
-
There isn't a copy to be had in New York City.

Plus you can upload screenshots to the web.
You mean I can spam my friends' inboxes with pictures of my super cute and cuddly pinatas?? Sold!

The tutorial for VP2 is horrible. The real problem is that the first two hours or so are wildly chaotic. The game makes this mistake of establishing a clear rule for "success": breed! But it's nigh impossible to run an effective breeding op. in the first few hours. Every 20 seconds some new species walks in, upgrades are pouring out, new seeds are showing up. I wish it was just paced a little more effectively because the game says "Do A", but then makes it impossible to do A. Which is fine, because B,C and D are all viable, but they don't discuss them.
-
The first game was like that as well: "BREED!" So I played and spent most of my time stopping fights and trying to keep shit watered and the bad guys at bay. I had no idea how to keep the ruffians away, and the fucking bad animals kept coming... And meanwhile my own pinatas were fighting and making each other sick.
Finally I checked a FAQ, and found out that it's best to have 2, maybe 3 types of pinata at any time, and after taming the damned bats and wolves, my garden became a peaceful place. But NOWHERE in the tutorials do they really say that limiting the number of pinata types is a good idea; they only say keeping them separated is smart. MEH!
-
:lol
I sure hope it is.
-
That's so cool. Is it a parody of something else?
-
I may sell this and snag ToV. Dunno. It's fine, but having played the fuck out of VP1, it doesn't quite stroke the same chord.
-
Yeah I still have the first one, and its like yeahhhh
-

If I hadn't played it, I'd suggest this up and down. But having played the shit out of it, this really has nothing to offer except a new pinata every few hours. I like the garden building, but. I'll just buy Sim City.
-
Fuck this game. Its ruining me.
I was like, ok, i got to go to bed early, since I'm showing up late and tried to work.
SO I start playing VP:TIP at 8pm, thinking I'll got o bed at 10ish.
1am :(
That was me for about 2 months straight, on VP1. The worst was 02:40, over 4 hours of "just 5 more minutes" unintentionally concatenated.
WELCOME TO YOUR CANDY-FILLED HELL!
