JustinP, that was a great post, but I think you're missing the point of this thread.where there is fiercer competition, there's more of a reason to put that on the box.
Why did Sony take two years to do this? MS and Ninty were doing it from day one.
my spoiler was merely a jab at microsoft putting "only on xbox" on the box and then porting it to PC months later.spoiler (click to show/hide)lol microsoft[close]
I think the point is more that when you're walking all over the competition, you don't need to do this. Such as NES, PS1, PS2 and Wii.

:rofl THREE different fonts :rofli'm sure you hold a comm design degree.
That's like Bad Media Design #101.
:rofl using old Playstation 2 font to lure people into buying this :roflyou mean the same playstation font used since the beginning

First rule of marketing:
- don't confuse your clients - have a coherent brand display policy everywhere
smh @ Sony
Of course it won't matter at all when it comes to sales but it is very funny that such a huge company with excellent branding in the hi-fi market made such a simple mistake.
I'm surprised Haze hasn't been announced for 360 yet.
Sony just shot themselves in the foot.fixed
I don't know how much the rest of you know about communication design (I'm an expert), but the number of fonts are a huge part of it. It's not like it is in other industries where you can become successful by branding individual, but different services, ideas, and software under one unbrella using different fonts. If you use different fonts in the video game industry, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the public, after seeing this package, is not going to want to purchase any PS3 games, nor will they purchase any of Sony's games for any system. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sony has alienated everyone with this move.
Sony, publicly apologize and rebrand everything Playstation using only one font or you can kiss your business goodbye.
And the PSN thing too.yeah man, using well-established branding and comm design techniques is SHAMEFUL.
Ugh, Sony just has no shame. They copy everything from everybody, and they even get the stuff that others passed on.

considering it's going to be seen on a playstation 3 game case, nobody will be confused and think it means "only on playstation 1." consequently, having that different font de-specifies it.I don't really think you could look at that box and be confused, Borys. Unless you're really distinguished mentally-challenged.
"IS THIS GAME ON THE PLAYSTATION OR THE PLAYSTATION OR THE PLAYSTATION??!?!"
It's a simple thing, but "Only on PlayStation" using the original PlayStation wordmark, without the number 3... does that mean you can play it on PS1?
the only other person that could make a thread like this is borys
wait a minute....
borys is pilonv
pilonv is borys
