Title: the new official thread of libertarian intellectual mendacity
Post by: Van Cruncheon on September 02, 2008, 05:40:40 PM
(http://i35.tinypic.com/2hmczed.png)

since foc can't come into any political thread without disingenuously and grossly contorting the views proffered therein to fit his 13-year-old's binary view of the world -- filtered as it is through the dogma and cant of ayn rand's coda for the socially disenfranchised, "objectivism" (also known as "the best argument for relativism going") -- i am going to create this thread in which we can hopefully contain all the lulz and allow the adults to actually talk politics free of the ignorance that comes with the Children Left Behind (thanks, texas state board of education).

in this thread, foc is free to assert any ludicrous strawman argument or false dichotomy he likes about

a) socialists
b) muslims
c) academics
d) the founding fathers and/or the constitution of the usa
e) political epistemology in general (a thankless undertaking were there ever one)
f) usurpation of American sovereignty by the UN
g) usurpation of American sovereignty by Mexicans and that giant highway
h) meritocracies
i) taxes
j) The Ultimate Warrior

and we will heap ignominy on him in the form of serious lulz.

foc, if you post in this thread, i will respond, which is what you want -- an outlet for your reactionary anti-democrat sentiments, you barely literate contrarian, you! other lolbertarians are also welcome to participate. for the rest of you, please read mike huben's hilarious anti-libertarian faq @ http://world.std.com/~mhuben/libindex.html, and consider how much energy i could have saved referring to its amusingly convenient responses instead of penning specific text representing my own views! why think for yourself when you can recant prefab arguments based on deliberately simplified scenarios just as the ayn rand dogma set do!

edit: mandark add!

here's what the notorious anti-federalist, white mandingo, and commie buster, one thomas "jungle fevah" jefferson, had to say about foc:

Quote
"Some men look at constitutions with sanctimonious reverence, and deem them like the ark of the Covenant, too sacred to be touched. They ascribe to the men of the preceding age a wisdom more than human, and suppose what they did to be beyond amendment... laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind... as that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, institutions must advance also, to keep pace with the times.... We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain forever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors."

I was just gonna say, that quotation is awesome.

:bow Jefferson :bow2

FoC: "b-but mr. jefferson... what about my lot in the northwest territory? it could be sieged by injuns or wild escaped negroes, and i'll be goldless and gunless in the unsettled virgin wilderness of ohio!"

"The protean nature of libertarianism causes problems for critics in open debate. There is no single basis which can be argued: you need to rebut a half dozen or more sets of assumptions, which pseudo-intellectual libertarians mix and match with a delightfully inconsistent abandonment of rationality."

Libertarianism justifies arson, bitterness, and rape, according to Ayn Rand (PBUH)'s The Fountainhead.

I'd also like to request that you add:

K) The formation of the North American Union.
L) The Bilderberg Group.

Libertarians have a slew of stupid ideas (THE MARKET WILL FIX THE ENERGY CRISIS LOL), but they're no worse than liberals or conservatives.

In fact, some of their beliefs (well, at least those pertaining to civil liberties) should be shared by all.

There's nothing wrong with moderate liberals or conservatives.  It's when you cross the threshold over to radicalism on ALL sides when you meet the crazies.

Libertarianism is pretty radical.

Libertarianism is pretty radical.

The minarchist, anarchist, and Objectivist strands of libertarianism--which seek to minimize, abolish, or destroy the state--certainly are radical, but not all strands of libertarianism are.

Ok guys it's time for some Real Talk. I have alot of fun getting yall riled up here and debating with you guys. I'm not really an objectivist raving libertarian in real life. The only issue that I feel strongly about is having the government stop spying on us and ending the war. Other than that I dont know much about history and politics. You guys know this, since about 90% of my facts are just regurgitated from wikipedia. I guess I sort of got carried away, but I was having so much fun because you guys took me so seriously. That surprised me.  What didnt surprise me was that you guys were extremely harsh and ganged up on everything I said without actually thinking about it.  How easy and unfun is that? It's like sony gaf all over again. I guess I asked for it when i decided to rant in half the posts. Well it's no longer fun seeing some of you guys take my posts so seriously. Chill out guys, it's just the internet, contrary to popular belief it's not serious business. I'm gonna take an extended break from posting here. My job is starting to pile on more work and this is a huge time sink.

Have fun circle jerking Obama's inevitable win and the cluster fuck that is the republican party  :-*

Despite the laissez-faire economic policies, a military dictatorship can't be called libertarian. Libertarianism may be many things, but it's not authoritarian.
