Title: Absolutely none of the web browsers in existence do what I want them to do.
Post by: T234 on September 03, 2008, 12:06:26 PM
IE6 and under:  :bawl :wag. Not gonna fool with it.

IE7 and beyond: I dig the hell out of it, and is alot more stable than firefox. My major gripe is just how goddamn big the buttons and tabs are, and it looks kinda drab. Plus, I have really had fucking nightmares about the favorites star. Time to fiddle, as it's the best outta the box.

Firefox: Creepy hippie shit. Addons nice, Furries not so nice. Quick. FF3 sux quite a bit less, but I still don't like it. Berkeley open source sluts are only interesting for server related shit. Ubiquity cool, but way too much made for plebes. Gonna attempt to make something similar; only instead of the English language, it shall use Larry Wall's Practical Extraction and Report Language syntax (complete with regular expressions, shell opening, the lot. This will be a loooooooooong endeavor.)

Google Chrome: Tabs on top. Fucking fail.

Opera: Nice, but real unacceptable jankness occasionally. Close tab button too fucking small for 13-inch 1024x768 :bawl :bawl :bawl :bawl

Safari: lol mac cigarillos (no filter, but I'm on a machine that is keylogged).

I'm starting a quest for the ultimate browser. It may take a lifetime but I will make something into the greatest browser ever made.

So what exactly do you want a web browser to do?

I'm fine with IE. IE6, even. I'll use Firefox from time to time, but it will never be my main browser. I'll use it at work to quarantine the work-related stuff from non-work related stuff, and that's about it. Don't really use it at home unless I'm testing something.

All I know is that Safari is the biggest pile of shit ever.  Its tough to get any actual work done on it because of its general counter intuitive layout.  I'd rather use Netscape Navigator 4 that was included in a PC I bought in 2000.

I currently have Firefox 3.  In hindsight, it wasn't worth the massive hype prior to its release.  It gets the job done but the newer releases are trying to fix what isn't broken.  It is better than the old versions, that would just keep using more and more memory until you had to restart.

I guess I am fine with most browsers, because i don't expect a lot of them. Just browsing the samefew internet pages, that's all. So if it has a back- and refreshbutton, i am set (i don't even use bookmarks and the like).

I have to admit though, that even i didn't like using Safari on my PC. It just felt wrong somehow, dunno why.

What special kind of things do you do with your browsers, so you feel hampered by them, i wonder?

Eh, I jump between Safari at home and Firefox at work.  Since they're laid out the same it makes life easy.

The only other browser I have is IE6 on my work computer - my hatred for it runs deep.

My browser use:

Home: PS3 Browser (if my computer isn't on) but mostly Firefox 3, cause it's the best browser.

Office: IE7 occasionally depending on the availability of Firefox. If Firefox 2 or higher is on the computer, I will use Firefox.

The new Google browser isn't half bad. If it gets Adblock Plus, I might switch over to it on a more permanent basis.
