The Tokyo Game Show 2008 game list is up and it’s leaking bits of information. One revelation is The King of Fighters ‘98 Ultimate Match will be released as a downloadable Xbox Live Arcade game sometime in the future. (See page seven.) SNK Playmore just packaged The King of Fighters ‘98 Ultimate Match as a retail PlayStation 2 game in Japan in June. We’re supposed to get sometime in 2009. This remake of the King of Fighters ‘98 has a healthy dose of extra characters and balance changes for top tier players.
No price or details have been announced, but it’s pretty much expected that the Xbox 360 release will be modified for online play. Oh, and we’re still waiting for the Xbox Live Arcade version of Samurai Shodown 2 too which is not listed to appear at SNK’s booth.

Where is this from though? Just wanna make sure it's not a mistake and not the regular '98. UM's size is kinda large AFAIK. I guess if they cut the arranged music and 3D backgrounds it would be doable?

Yeah UM is a much more polished game, going by the SF2 beta. No redrawn sprites, but instead it got new backgrounds, new moves, "new" characters, and more. It is the greatest KOF ever made, period. Better than the original and better than the other "dream matches" and XI. Fuckin' perfection.

UM is :o :o :o :o :o :bow2 :bow2 awesomeness. Played a bunch last night (originalz's Choi is grrrrrrrr but he falls to my Another Andy HAW HAW) and then went to the arcade today and kicked this dude's ass all over with Heidern, Krauser, and Another Ryo. FALL BITCH FALL. He got me in the end the second time though. But I kicked his ass GOOD the first. 8)
