Who the fuck listens to AC/DC?
I was looking at the Biopgraphic comic from some days back, and that jumped out at me.
In context, Metallica has only sold 90 million records. Led Zepplin 300 million. Rolling Stones, about 200 million. How can they have sold as many records as The Rolling Fucking Stones? WTFWTFTFGfdsahfbsdkjgvklfbnlldfgblkdfjlkjdfh;fghldfkkdfljkdf;
-
Yeah. That's crazy.
-
I hate it when I see kids walking around in AC/DC shirts. They probably have never even listened to their music. Fucking posers.
-
you've gone too far dude. AC/DC has some classic material. unfortunately most of their catalogue is cluttered with average to bad shit that tries to mimic that classic material
-

I have seen a ton of kids wearing Run DMC shirts lately. I wonder how many of them know what Run DMC is?
-
I think I'm going to fucking puke. Back in Black is the second best-selling album of all time? Ugh. I mean, AC/DC is perfectly acceptable hard rock, but what have they done to sell so many records that they rank amongst Zepplin and the Stones? I knew they were big, but they are fucking mega-huge.
-
yeah, i mean the eagles have the best selling album of all time ffs. there's just a lot of people with shit taste out there. blame the baby boomers who continue to buy this shit in an attempt to remember their glory days.
-
I've never heard an Eagles album. They suck? The song Hotel California is undeniably awesome, and they have a...couple other cool singles but yeah, I don't know much about them
-
:auscry

I like how this starts off as a passionate defence and then trails off into nothingness.
-
the eagles just might be the shittiest group considered "classic rock"

At least we can semi-justify that terrible fucking Eagles album since it's a greatest hits comp. I say it don't count.

Because some people like more hard rock than slow lame ass rock? Granted, a lot of their songs sound completely alike, but they're all adrenaline rush songs.
Led Zepplin? I think Stairway to Heaven is the most overrated song I've ever heard. There, I said it. Give me Highway to Hell any day.

once i get my new computer i'm going to download Hotel California and see what's up.
Hollywood: I like AC/DC but Zeppelin IV shits on their entire body of work
-
Never heard an AC/DC song ever.

Hotel California isn't the best selling one. It's their greatest hits album, so I'd try to judge from that.
-
My old roommate jacked off to ac/dc.
he had ac/dc hats, ac/dc shirts...
-
Better to AC/DC than to Love Hina. I'll give him that much.

Completely different music though. Stuff like Zepplan, Eagles, were mostly mellow, compared to AC/DC. AC/DC was just one speed the entire way, which I can see why people wouldn't like, plus there's not realy any point to the lyrics. Depends on what you're looking for, I doubt there's many other bands besides maybe Metallica who has as unique a sound as them and practically all of their music is just for an adrenaline rush.

I know but it seems best to judge a band by their albums instead of their greatest hits CD. I've probably heard half their greatest hits on the radio. And jeez, 10 SONGS on a greatest hits album? smh

I haven't watched Love Hina in like 6 years!

I dunno, I think it's kinda telling that the band's best-selling album is a greatest hits album to begin with, heh.

I'm sure you can replay it endlessly in your head.
-
Yea that is true. I was on a classic rock binge before getting sidetracked by some other stuff (Bjork and Beth Gibbons to be specific), but I'm going to get back to it soon. Eagles, The Doors, some Beatles, and CCR
-
The Eagles are so fucking bad.
-
AC/DC has some good songs, but they all sound very similar. And I'm not a big fan of the band's lyrics or vocals, whether Bon Scott's or Brian Johnson's.
Jesus Christ at the sales numbers for Hootie and the Blowfish, Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, Boston, and the Eagles.
-
I don't own any AC/DC but I know they've sold that many albums because they fucking rock.
-
ANTI CHRIST DEVIL'S CHILDREN
-
I like Back in Black, but I haven't listened to any of their other albums.
-
You Bauhaus homos are disconnected from the real world.
Back in Black sold well not because it was cutting edge progressive rock or Morrissey or whatever suits your homoerotic tendencies in music. People bought it because its something you listen to when you're pounding down Pabst Blue Ribbon while watching "the game" in the back of your trailer. People bought it because ugly, creatively uninspired biker wannabes played "All Night Long" to their saggy tittied wives who wears far too much rouge and too little clothing. People like it because they heard one of their singles in the bar where they just bought it so they can tell their buddies, "Hey remember that time when..." while the same single is now blaring out of their Pinto.
In short, not an album meant for EB and many of its listeners probably won't frequent concerts, which is why as big as they were, they were never as huge as Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin. It is geared to far more blue collar crowds than the bands mentioned in this thread that were probably bigger artists, concert wise. Unless you can buy concert tickets with food stamps.
-
Pretty impressive.
But where's the video of you throwing up all over the kitchen floor?
-
Back in Black is the second best-selling album of all time?
No.
Thriller is the second best selling album of all time.
in America
It's the best selling album world wide.
-
Thriller sure has some filler on it jeez

Led Zeppelin 111.5
Eagles 100
Billy Joel 79.5

The fact that there are people in this thread who even SUGGEST that Led Zeppelin wasn't better than AC/DC deserves the following.
SMH

while not fun to read, there's something really awesome about the existence of those biographical comics. i think i have an aerosmith one.

I dunno. I kind of like them. They appear reasonably accurate and they sometimes feature hilarious art. Like how Phillip Seymour Hoffman is apparently filling in for Angus Young up there.
-
did a little reading up on other rock and roll comics just now, and now that i know it exists, i can't deny i wouldn't read the 'the who' issue.
this is the most awesome biographical comic as far as i'm concerned though, which my dad actually game me as a kid

WOW!!!!!!!!!
What's with the wow. They're both great albums, especially "the Dark Side of the Moon"
-
ummm that DSOTM sold less in 25 years that an Oasis album did in 13.
-
AC/DC had one good album, and one good song after it (thunderstruck, imo). That's about it for AC/DC.
Compare that to any other band with 200 million+ sales, or Queen (who should be huge sellers), and that's a problem. WHY CAN'T YOU PEOPLE LISTEN TO GOOD MUSIC!!!
Oh yeah, and fuck the Eagles. They belong with AC/DC in the "HOW THE FUCK DID THEY SELL SO MUCH!?" category.
Edit: oh yeah, btw, population grows. pretty sure that DSOTM is like 40 million ww, which is quite a bit. Morning Glory is also pretty good, so I'm not gonna hate on it. The important thing is that GREATEST HITS BY QUEEN is on top.
-

Considering how popular Oasis was during the early 90s in the UK, not really deserving a wow.
In America, "Cracked Rear View" by Hootie and the Blowfish has sold more than DSoTM. Now that deserves a wow, followed by some puking.

AC/DC has at least a dozen good songs, while the Eagles have two, maybe three.
Back in Black
Big Balls
Dirty Deeds
Hells Bells
High Voltage
Highways to Hell
Jailbreak
Let there be Rock
Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution
Thunderstruck
TNT
Whole Lotta Rose
You Shook Me All Night Long
The Eagles have "Hotel California" and "Take it Easy."
-
Man, Hotel California sucks. So does take it easy. They make the Beatles seem listenable.
anyone who hates (the song) hotel california is crazy. you have no excuse unless you're cooler than The Dude
and you aren't!
-
Desperado is probably the worst thing ever recorded.
-
that song sounds like a billion other songs but manages to be worse. eh
-
Billy Rygar: If it's popular, it sucks.
-
would have been better if it was called Esmerelda tho :drool
-
Billy Rygar: If it's popular, it sucks.
Actually, all trolling aside I actually do hate the Eagles. Probably the one major band I really don't like at all, I just shit on certain bands because the reactions are typically hilarious. I like plenty of popular stuff. I loves me some Queen and The Stones :-*
The Eagles' catalog is horrible, but I still like "Hotel California," even if it's the most played out song outside of "Hey Jude."
But since you like Queen and the Stones, you aren't all bad.
-
I don't care for the eagles, but I hate don henley. I heard him say he doesn't listen to any one elses' music? WTF???
-
it's at the top of the no homo list

AC/DC sucks, The Eagles suck, Led Zeppelin sucks (but slightly less than the other two because Bonham was an awesome drummer).
