Game is good, but still pretty shit compared to Halo. Halo 3 is better than 2 also.
-
How many visual enhancements did they do to it? I thought it looked pretty rank even on the original Xbox at times.
-
smh

:gloomy Borys, budget taste in games :gloomy
4) the dialogues make my ears cringe :lol so do the cutscenes - Master Chief basejumping into space using a Covenant bomb as his surfboard? P L E A S E
They actually managed to top themselves with Halo 3.
"Squad leaders are requesting a rally point. Where should they go?"
"To war"
Still, it's the better game, although just like Halo 2, it suffers from a continued heavy emphasis on the lame ass story, made all the worse by how bloody seriously it takes itself, in all its shitty character and stilty animation glory.
-
I'd argue Delta Halo is the best Halo level in all three games.

I played Halo 2 for a couple of hours before I realized that it had the same kind of boring stuff that made the first game such a slog.
-
I love replaying 1 and 3, but I've never actually gotten more than halfway through H2 campaign.
-
Borys fails
-
FUCK HALO. RIP ENSEMBLE.
-
Halo 2 meh, elites are better than brutes (even in halo 3)

Borys, budget taste in games
it you play it on a level other than Normal, it's glorious awesomeness may shine on you.
I finished Halo 2 on Heroic (finished Halo 2 on Legendary, and got through most of Halo 3 on Heroic, although I doubt I'll ever finish Cortana on anything above Normal). The pathetic Brutes and annoying Jackals were such a joy to fight on Heroic, amirite? Piece of shit game. Felt like a clumsy 3rd draft given the greenlight to be released as a full game.

I'm a pretty big Halo fanboy, but I'll probably never go back and play Halo 2. The MP was the reason to play it. First third of the game is fun, but after that . . . I guess that's not fair. It's single player is still better than 95% of games, but it's such a drop-off from Halo CE.
I've never quite understood how anyone can hate Halo CE. It's only notable flaw is that a few levels go on for too long. That's pretty minor. You'd have to be a major fanboy or have consumed large amounts of lead paint to contest it's awesome.
-
try getting all the skulls
theres one that does away with the hud on that level where you crash, mombasa I think maybe?, havent played in a while
but yeah jump on those lights near the beginning of the level to get up to the roof and take a left to a skull hidden in the corner

Halo 2 = best multiplayer
Halo 3 = best singleplayer

did I mention the graphics are dated as fucking fuck? Far Cry looks miles better than this
You're talking about an original XBOX game, Borys. They did absolutely NOTHING to enhance the PC version (outside of the typical performance/image quality improvements you get with a PC game). It's a game from 2004 intended for a system released in 2001!

Far Cry and Doom 3 were also on XBOX 1 and IMO they look miles, miles better than Halo 2 on XBOX 1.
Hmmm, I dunno. Doom 3 on XBOX has much smaller locations overall and a lot of really ugly texture artifacts. Far Cry is a bit messier looking as well. I think if you went back and took a look at those versions of the game you'd see that Halo 2 holds up pretty well. It's also completely devoid of load screens during gameplay, which is just awesome. You're right, though, the first level looks pretty bland in comparison to later stuff.
-
The game was good back then, but it's clear that Bungie didn't know where to go with it, and that's why it had a troubled development.
See, the game aged pretty bad imo, while Halo 1 didn't. Halo 3 is more like Halo 1, it hasn't aged yet, and will age pretty well.
-
I think the point about 3 way battles is a good one. Bungie was so wedded to their narrative (their bad narrative, mind you) that they sacrificed a number of gameplay opportunities. But Halo 3 was still better than Halo 2.

Halo 2 = best multiplayer
Halo 3 = best singleplayer
What is it about Halo 3's multiplayer that makes it inferior to Halo 2's? ???
-
The PC version of Halo 2 does have one thing going for it.
:bow Achievements :bow2

Nothing. I thought Halo 2's multiplayer sucked when it came out, compared to Halo 1 it was so disappointing. I mean, you can still play it fine and it could be fun, but H1's multiplayer seemed so much better thought out and balanced.
H3 is leagues better than H2, but I dunno if it can surpass the original.

I just like the multiplayer levels in Halo 2 much better.
-
Yea, Bungie dropped the ball on a number of H3's multi levels. But H2 had its duds too.
I think with the Legendary map pack Bungie finally brought Halo 3's multiplayer into line.
-
:lol
So how many Achievement points do you have now, Borys?
-
So you're experience is tainted because you have to wait 3 years for halo 3? Oh wait, you don't! Go buy a 360 and experience Halo 3 (and Gears 2 and Fable 2 and Mass Effect 2 and Halo Wars and...)
-
Best part of Tieno's post is that all those games are going to be on (and be better on) PC.
-
So everyone is happy.
-
In the same way that Sfans don't care that the best version of most games are on the X360, i doubt Xfans care that the better versions are on PC.... 6-20 months later.
True. Most people would rather sacrifice quality in order to have the game out quickly. I myself played Mass Effect on 360 where it was filled with tons of technical problems.
-
Borys, don't you game on a shit-quality monitor? I bet hooking a 360 up to it would look the same. :P
-
True. Most people would rather sacrifice quality in order to have the game out quickly..
only holds true for the PC unfortunately.
you can even have the wait on PS3 and then get the disappointment of the substandard version though, which is GREAT
hey, alone in the dark is going to be better on ps3...!

That doesn't seem to be quite as true these days, however. Most multiplatform games are extremely similar on both consoles. Some of the latest games are so similar that it becomes almost impossible to detect a difference. Pure, for instance, is virtually the same on both machines. The important thing to note is that in 99% of the cases, however, the 360 will never have an INFERIOR version. It's generally just a question of whether or not the PS3 version will match it. :P
Still, the multiplatform situation is worlds better this generation. Even the worst examples of 360 to PS3 ports are still better than most XBOX to PS2/Gamecube ports last generation. We've never before had a generation where multiplatform games would look THIS close.
