with the exception of LBP, wow promising hands on impressions guys, I might have to splash out on a PS3what, you didn't believe everybody else who basically said the same thing?
Must Buys:
Gears of War 2 - Looked great, played great and some of the new effects were incredible. Loved it.
Destructable Environs?
Dead Space: Holy crap - I loved it. Extremely fun, very intuitive, slick visuals and pretty polished. Just wish you could run. Atmosphere was incredible.
The REAL Doom 3, for sure.
Prince of Persia: Also a strong contender. Great visual style and great action/platforming. Dialogue was pretty bad tho.
PoP games have stupid stories and stupid dialogue. Uncharted has worse dialogue, so LOL PS3 fans shut up.
Little Big Planet: The only area of Sony's booth that wasn't empty and for good reason. Creating levels was pretty damn fun.
I'll get it.
Street Fighter 4: I'm not a super diehard fighter guy but this looked and played great. I got my butt whooped.
I'm eating crow when this comes out. I thought it would blow but they turned it around from the looks of it.
Not Sold On:
FarCry 2: Pretty boring. With so many shooters on the market, its hard ti figure out why you'd pay $60 for this one.
IM GONNA SHOOT U IN THE FACE. Gonna take A LOT to sell me on a sequel to the first awful tech demo.
Quantum of Solace: Plays like Gears of Duty w/ QTEs for CQC. Fun in spurts but got repetitively quickly.
Never head o it.
Fable II: Town stuff was fun and the options seem expanse but the combat did not really feel satisfying.
Combat sucked in the first one too, even Pete's old games had some pretty basic, but funny combat.
Total Surprises:
Guitar Hero: World Tour: Considering I got a free copy of Rock Band 2 this week and my love for Harmonix, this series was an afterthought for me. A demonstration of the editing tools along with band play has given me doubts about picking uo my RB2 kit (GHWT equipment is compatible with RB too).
Don't have the patience to edit fucking songs. Create your own bullshit always makes me think the devs are too lazy to keep the track list fresh through the games life-cycle.
Call of Duty: Was expecting it to suck but found the coop campaign immensely enjoyable. It was difficult at times trying to figure out who was who.
More Call of Duty, GOIN THROUGH THOSE EA MOTIONS
Total Stinkers:
Mortal Kombat vs DC: Moves are not mapped out well, slow response time, matches last forever and certain moves are unblockable. Really dumb button masher.
Ill grab it when it hits 30.
Socom: Boring and ugly. Played it for five minutes and northing happened.
Always hated SOCOM, and now that most games are online, the single thing that made it so DURNED special way back when is now irrelevant.
MAF, Fable 1 (PC) combat was pretty good. It was challenging, rewarding and HARD (Arena or the Earth Giants or whatever they were called).
IM GONNA SHOOT U IN THE FACE. Gonna take A LOT to sell me on a sequel to the first awful tech demo. It's for this reason that I believe the game should not have been named Far Cry 2. The game is related to Far Cry in name only. Far Cry was a product of CryTek (who proved themselves talented with Crysis). I doubt FC2 will be anything like the original game. Doesn't mean it will be good, of course, but its potential should not be judged by the original Far Cry.
Street Fighter 4: I'm not a super diehard fighter guy but this looked and played great. I got my butt whooped.

Oh, the Star Wars lightsaber game for the Wii sucked btw.

I played the SOCOM beta for two hours on Sunday. This was before they patched it and it was still two of the best hours of gaming I've had in a while. Its the best parts of GRAW combined with the best parts of Rainbow Six. I'm thinking this is the shooter everyone should be playing when they're not playing Gears or Resistance. What's not to like? Are you just not into tactical shooters?

You can build Paris in Far Cry 2. That's why you spend $60.you can do the same in just about every PC game with a map editor...
Its generic boring bullshit.
Its generic boring bullshit.
Dude, that's some great insight right there. I gotta ask, do you enjoy GRAW, or Rainbow Six? And also, did you even play the new SOCOM? Cuz the other Socom games are just poor man's versions of stuff Ubisoft did better. This is no longer the case.
So do you enjoy GRAW or Rainbow, and have you played the new SOCOM?

So Willco, are you pushing EB to try and get any any industry types posting here?

SOCOM is crap. So is Uncharted. Why should I qualify my opinions when sony fucktards have proven time and time again that they'd rather live in the shit bubble theyve created.
SOCOMs gimmick was ONLINE ON CONSOLES which allowed reviewers to completely overblow its actual worth. Its like how objectively Phantasy Star Online isnt that great of a game, but even the simple online component allowed GAMERS to make the experience better.(http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e378/T-234/downey-jr-tropic-thunder2.jpg)

PSO stopped being fun because they made it a card game. There are only three episodes of PSO that ever existed.
What's the PC equivalent, and dont pretend that game-specific online functionality compares.

Oh that's right, the group factor. How remarkable, and it totally makes up for the sluggish, strict tier based, ad-ridden UI!
:gloomy XBL, nickel and dime junior Shockwave oral groupwank service :gloomy
GRAW and Vegas are INDEED awesome.
Fuck, lamestop sounds like a bigger employee cult than wal-mart.
Glad I'm sticking with the decision to rent Fable 2.
Harmonix's presentation is so mundane, but I got your information. 20 free songs will be available via DLC and it will cost $5 to bring your songs from the first Rock Band to the next installment. World Tour mode is fully online.
Why do people hate the new Dash? Do you really prefer the blades? New Dash is a huge step forward. I'm stoked for it. I bet it will look sexy as hell on my TV. It just oozes sheen.
I posted impressions and gaming news! I didn't post anything corporate until prompted by cult remarks!I certainly appreciated your impressions! :D
I work for a company - like many who work for MOST companies, I do not find it without fault nor do I think of it as the best company ever. I enjoy my job for the most part, regardless of the actual corporate policy.
Red Faction's destructible environments are the real deal. We got a sneak peek at some great weapons like the nano rifle that literally eats apart matter. The had like some kind of crazy implopding mine too. The actual physics and the way the buildings fall apart is incredible. How come nobody else has pulled this off?Crysis managed it (though obviously its focus was a bit different) and it looked more impressive in motion as well (due to the object motion blur). Still, what they've achieved in the new Red Faction is really impressive. I just wish it wasn't an open world game. :\
Crysis does it the same way Mercs 2 does it. It has mainly metal sheets that make up the building, then they just fall away like a house of cards. Mercs 2 and Bad Company also rely on destruction by swapping out models, so shoot a wall and it swaps with a broken wall. It is on a much smaller scale than Mercs 2, but RF3 has the most impressive destruction I have ever seen in a game. This is true. However, there are many more individual pieces used to create structures in Crysis and you can't forget the detailed vegitation destruction (which doesn't simply replace models). It's the high number of objects interacting with one another coupled with the incredible post processing that gives Crysis its look and feel. It is different from Red Faction in that you can't actually destroy material, though, you're right.
No way, mercs 2 has large concrete explosions. Blowing a wall to a fortress with C4 is win

There is some really cool shit that GameStop will be rolling out to make things easier for gamers in the store.
Free update on PC, 800 points on 360.Free update on PC, never appearing on 360. Come on now.
Just a guess.
Willco, did you not play Last Remnant then? A friend said it was there but he hadn't played it yet.
Resistance 2 looked good btw
I don't know what you are talking aboutYour spoiler tags are fucked up. :-*spoiler (click to show/hide)it also comes with a headsetspoiler (click to show/hide)[close][close]
All that matters for me this fall is Gears of War 2. As long as that delivers, Im happy.
Wow those boxarts are fucking generic. Who would want to copy Halo 3 in the first place?

Fable II looks promising but I predict a good amount of backlash.

Resistance 2 looked neat visually, but it didn't seem terribly fun.
SOCOM is crap. So is Uncharted. Why should I qualify my opinions when sony fucktards have proven time and time again that they'd rather live in the shit bubble theyve created.
MAF has played a metric fuckton of tactical shooters.Alright, then I guess I'm wrong about him. I still say the SOCOM beta is the fuckin bomb diggity and if you haven't played it, your opinion still doesn't mean shit no matter how many shooters you've played.
I knew Fable II was going to be total shit. :)
god damn, you are definitely distinguished mentally-challenged.Resistance 2 looked good btw
Is this true?

What. Are you blind or something? Or your just being yourself, a natural born, corn eating dumbass.the yellow sky is a theme for resistance 2. the stance is your standard guy holding a gun - nothing noteworthy there. saying it's a "ripoff" is distinguished mentally-challenged -- there are similarities, but it's more a coincidence and not a ripoff.

Well the second one is Euro and the first one is NA, so it figures ;)
Wrika, stop quoting JustinP please.
And the Standard one is pretty clearly influenced heavily by Halowhy? because the sky? the soldier pose?
Nathan Hale becomes a Chimera. It's 2 sides to HIS life.
Both of those.but it isn't even dusk or a sunset/rise at all. the whole sky is yellow when the chimera shit is in the sky. we've seen art, screenshots, and videos that show this.
I mean, soldier guy coming out of the left side of the box wielding a gun at dusk isn't exactly a common type of box art.
Wrika, stop quoting JustinP please.
Funny this, I was going to say "JustinP, would you stop quoting that Wrikawrek shithole?" but then I realized that they are both dungpiles, so why not ignore both?

and there's nothing noteworthy/original about a soldier holding a gun on the side of a box art. the general placement is similar, but that's it. are you really saying you can't put a soldier on the left side without ripping off halo...?
similar, yes -- they are obviously similar. but being "heavily inspired" accuses them of literally used halo's box art as inspiration. i think it's MUCH more reasonable to assume the yellow sky is from, you know, the sky in the game caused by the chimera invasion... and not the sunset on the halo cover.but it isn't even dusk or a sunset/rise at all. the whole sky is yellow when the chimera shit is in the sky. we've seen art, screenshots, and videos that show this.

Not 'ripped off', but heavily inspired. It is kind of like how a lot of design in Halo is 'heavily inspired' by Aliens.
While I know the R2 segments aren't at dusk and a result of the invasion, I was just using that as a reference point. Whatever color that may be, I don't care, but they are really similar. The entire vibe is similar between them.
And despite all this arguing, and lets just say I concede and say it is totally original, it doesn't stop it from being an ugly cover. It is made worse since the LE cover is so great. Clearly they have someone on the art team who is capable of creating something that looks great, but who knows, maybe lightening didn't strike twice. I will also say that the Resistance 1 cover was also a lot better.i'm not saying the R2 box art (either one) is "totally original." i'm not saying it's a good cover, either. i think all of resistance's art is a bit meh. so i don't know who you're trying to argue against.
OH MY GOD, WILCO!
Confirm something for me, is Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories getting release on the PS2 in North America????
