Title: is this blasphemy?
Post by: Eric P on September 14, 2008, 06:46:04 PM
I like the Terminator TV series better than the two Cameron movies.  Didn't see the third.

Yes.

Also, I act like I can't stand bad acting, but on the inside I love it. It makes a movie/show feel cool.

Terminator 2 would have been better with Summer instead of Arnold.

I've never seen the TV series, but I like the third movie way more than the first two.  Living in sin ain't so bad.

the first one is just a horrible chase movie with some neat inventive bits by the director

the second one is just kind of lame aside from the tech that went into the special effects, but really, it's not that good.  it's not episode 1 bad, but then it's not the abyss good.

terminator 1 is not a good movie - i'll admit it's just ok at best. the horribly dated music/tone kinda ruin it for me today. it scared the shit out of me as a kid though

terminator 2 though? amazing

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Cameron is kinda over rated

The movies have much better action (expected) and Ahnuld, but the TV series leaves room for a more fleshed-out storyline and better character development.  I'm more interested in the future stuff though; after three movies in the present, that's enough and I'm glad the next film is moving in that direction.

[nerdhat on] Also if there is time travel technology in the future, then why the hell doesn't Skynet just like send back an ARMY of terminators to kill John Conner, or just a big fucking nuke to his general location? [nerdhat off]

The entire storyline has been fucked from the begining. Time travel stuff and logic don't mix.

Didn't think so.

But it DOES have an awesome scene where a terminator shoots up a school

i'm not really interested in the action aspects.  i'm far more interested in character development and world building.

and i was really surprised they shot up a school.

the season 1 finale had an excellent closing montage done to Johnny Cash's When The Man Comes Around, and the season 2 premier's opening action sequence was kind of gutsy.

Okay, so Terminator series has one cool action scene compared to the T2's five hundred cool action scenes. Only four hundred ninety-nine to go!

So that's why it takes so many years for Terminators to show up inbetween the movies and the storylines.
