fuck off kid, those beach shots look great
:bow Kazuma Kiryu :bow2
-
Shut up Particle Reality.
:bow Kazuma Kiryu :bow2
:bow Yakuza :bow2
-
Looks like shit
-
KAZUMAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
-
Those screens really remind me of that old CG PS3 game Killing Day.
-
Hey Sega, how about some gameplay shots?
-
I might start playing this series with Yakuza 3. I skipped the last two. It sucks being a graphics whore :-\
-
That looks like a three year old CG demo, ParticleReality. Because it is.
-
The shots look good, but they could be GC or in-game cutscenes for all we know. I'm guessing they're in-game cutscenes, but I'd like to get some actual in-game shots of Kazuma running around punching tigers in the face.
-
Its not cg, RGG doesn't use cg. They're cutscene shots.
I'm sure it'll look like Kenzan.
-
Uhhh.
-
I'm all over this day one if it ever gets released in North America, just like Yakuza 1 and 2, but I still want some game play shots. A bunch of cutscene shots do nothing for me.
-
Yeah, I just can't wait to see gameplay shots. Can you imagine the brutality of RGG with next gen visuals? :o
-
On what planet do those Killing Day shots look aesthetically pleasing at all?
-
Why are you in this thread, PR?
-
I remember when people thought Killing Day was real time.

So fake. Almost as bad as:

And Yakuza 3 looks a lot better than Killing Day, I just thought they looked similar (mainly the shot of eye patch guy and the KD guy).
-
character models look good
environments look like shit

Japan proves its mastery of the mighty CELL once again
-
The Kenzan demos on the PSN are a lot of fun, but I've heard the language barrier in this one is HUGE, so importing is probably not a good idea. I wish Sega of America would say something about it...
Japan proves its mastery of the mighty CELL once again
Sega has been showing the PS3 a lot of love lately with Valkyria, RGG Kenzan and RGG 3.
-

I just created a Japanese PSN account yesterday but couldn't find the Kenzan demo. Did they take it down?

I have no idea, I downloaded them back in January when they were first released.
-
ParticleReality, get the fuck out of this thread. You sound like a degenerate, dimwitted OA poster.
-
The Kenzan demos were a lot of fun (well, demo...I only played the combat one). The combat in it was much better than the combat in Yakuza 1.
-
i don't even consider yakuza a beat em up game. It has a beat em up battle system but most of time isn't even spent beating shit up, it's sidequesting.
-
Bowling and batting cages are painting ones fingernails? :(
I unlocked a hidden weapon shop through side questing! Top that!!!
Even a lot of the story consists more than simply smashing people's faces in. A lot of the gameplay go toward adventure gameplay as much as it does action. I've always considered the games to be action adventure more than anything else.
-
There are no kittens!
But in Yakuza 1 you had to feed a puppy!
One time I was in the middle of a street, came upon a fight, some dude threw me a giant fucking fan and kazuma owned the guy he was fighting with it. It was weird.
-
There really aren't Shenmue-style QTEs in Yakuza. I don't really think there are QTEs at all...unless you are considering special action prompts to be QTEs.
I don't think you've played it.
-
There are qte's in Yakuza 2.
-
I dunno man, the way you yammer on about QTEs and Lucky Hit, I'm tempted to suggest you haven't even played Yakuza.
I harp on the QTEs and Lucky Hit because I expected to hear/see them in Yakuza, and I saw QTEs. I didn't have fun with Yakuza, it was a boring as shit to play and probably would of been better if it was fully linear and took you from one mission to the next for the entire game.
I don't enjoy unnecessary walking around, talking to people, then going to do other shit. Stuff like that should be kept in sandbox games, RPGs and MMOs. If Yakuza was a Sandbox game set in Japan, then maybe I'd be a little more forgiving.
Why would the game benefit from being linear? You can make the game as linear or open ended as you want. If you just want to do missions, do missions.

Judging from his last two responses, PR has a very bright future as another shitty game journalist/reviewer.

Damn this game looks like shit

Only I don't let my bias to shitty company's like SEGA affect my reviews. Yakuza is a remotely decent game(considering), I just never had any actual fun playing it and I have no desire to play the rest of the series because of who makes it. I treat all SEGA games like this and I'll continue to do so.
Long story short, I hate this game because I hate SEGA. If it was made by a Capcom I'd probably enjoy it more(though it would probably be a better game).
The only SEGA game I'll ever have an exception for is Shinobi. Oh and I guess Revenge of Shinobi(GBA) too.
sigh
-
wait - didn't people see the screen shots of Kenzan in Famitsu....
then see the in game graphics?
And go "wow - that's a BIG f*cking different, this looks like shit!" ?
I just saw the shots in Famitsu - this is Sega, there is no way these are realtime game shots, cutscenes plus a heavy dose of "happy screenshot magic" tops.
Yep, reused assets... shit confirmed
-
can you imagine the carnage you will be able to wreck in Yakuza 3
omg
