In the novel, large deposits of dilithium are detected on a colony planet, and delegations are sent by the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire to negotiate for mining rights (neither able to openly fight against the other because of the "Organian Lightbulbs", a reference to the Organians from the original series). They find the planet Direidi and its inhabitants to be very strange indeed. Planet inhabitants occasionally break into song to explain their narratives, and both crews (as well as the three person crew of the Federation prospector that found the planet in the first place) get into various adventures with the planet's inhabitants. In the end, it turns out that the inhabitants have set everything up according to "Plan C" - Comedy. All of the adventures the two crews encountered were designed to soften them up so that they wouldn't mine the whole planet, but would be willing to work with the inhabitants and each other.

The Final Reflection is a 1984 Star Trek tie-in novel by John M. Ford which emphasizes developments of Klingon language and culture. The novel provided the foundation for the FASA Star Trek role-playing game sourcebooks dealing with the Klingon elements of the game. Although not considered canon because of later developments in the Star Trek movies and TV series, the presentation of Klingon culture in this novel and Ford's 1987 follow-on, How Much for Just the Planet? is highly popular in fanon alternate depictions of Klingon society and culture. In particular, the fictional Klingon language klingonaase is introduced here, in advance of the creation of the canon version of the Klingon language, tlhIngan Hol.
aside from a horrible framing story which just kind of reeks of editorial interference to force known characters into the book, the final reflection is quite good.

I've been going through the original series first season in HD. Looks so pretty I can see the makeup lines around Spock's ears :lol
Too bad they likely will never release the next two seasons in HD, especially since the second one was almost ready to print when HD-DVD got canned :(

I think they've got all three remastered seasons on DVD, so I can't imagine they won't have them on BluRay soon enough.

Yeah, except that Toshiba was funding the HD restoration. Unless another company picks that up, BR release seems more and more unlikely each day. Season 2 remastered has already come out on DVD, no word for a Blul release, and Season 2 and 3 aren't even shown in HD on TV right now. The masters were cleaned up, so there is still hope. Might be a ways away though.
edit: I think the main problem is the massive amount of content. Season 1 is 30 episodes at over 50 minutes a pop. Although it has a huge fanbase, there have been a lot of reprinting of the original ST episodes. So the price can only be so much, even though there is a LOT of content to remaster. The HD-DVD set comes on 10 discs, so that adds to the cost as well. I think a lot of companies see that project as a big cost with limited return, unless Paramount covers the cost themselves. So far they've been unwilling to do so.

DS9 is awesome, I saw the episode in season 1 where they all get stuck in a board game is QUARK WANTS PROFIT but he knows they are inside! Inner struggle!

Remember when the Ferengi where supposed to be the new arch-enemies in TNG, ala the Klingons from TOS? :lol That lasted for about two episodes before they scrapped that idea.
