Title: XBL: Television and Movies (NOT GAMES)
Post by: MrAngryFace on November 23, 2006, 01:25:12 AM
Who here has given this a shot, how is the quality, the download speed? I've been having issues with non-tv/movie related functions with XBL.

Apparently 80% of all Live users tried out the service today... I doubt this news, but:

I haven't, but this is a really great idea. It scares me how well Microsoft have got their shit together this generation. Peculiar list of films though.

TVC says downloads take forever, and the shows are like 400-500MB a pop. I have like 9 gigs free and since there's no obvious defrag utility to get a little extra space back after I wipe demos, I'm stuck at around 18 episodes and no extra space.

360 needs a 160+ GB HD, stat.

datel makes a device that allows you to pull files off the 360 hard drive. They might still be full of drm though.

Ya know, if I got a core for ~$100, I could probably hold out and wait for the HDD come X-Mas time, along with two new games, and still have it cost around the same as JUST the premium pack.

That's a good fucking deal. Shit. Now I'm definitely gluing myself to the comp from 1:30pm onwards... :/

FUCK, how quickly do you think they're gonna sell out? If I order my system around 2pm, I don't wanna be beaten by a bunch of taco eBayers looking to make a quick buck. >:(

I really think they're going to sell out within a matter of seconds.

I was going to be one of those cigarillo eBayers, but I came to my senses.

Fuck, just read the Terms and Conditions... they gotta make this so fuckin difficult, huh? :-\

Quote
Each week's winner goes on sale Thursdays at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. Buying will close when available quantities have sold out. Be online, ready and waiting on Amazon.com, the second buying goes live. If you don't have an Amazon.com account already, get one now. We predict that these deals will sell out rapidly.

You won't buy products from Amazon Customers Vote the way you'd ordinarily buy at Amazon.com. We've implemented a special series of screens to ensure we only take as many orders as we can fulfill, and to ensure that each customer buys only one item. You'll be asked to verify your identity, and issued one of a limited number of claim codes that allow you to purchase at the special discounted price.

You must buy via the Amazon Customers Vote page (amazon.com/customers-vote), not the product detail page, in order to buy one of the set-aside items; otherwise, you will not pass through the series of screens in which we issue the claim code, and you will not receive the discount.

Additionally, only items shipped from and sold by Amazon.com are included in this promotion, although some of these items are sold on our site by third-party merchants. If you add an item to your cart from the detail page using the "Add to Shopping Cart" button for a different merchant (such as Target), we cannot apply the claim code to your order.

The 100 GB one was a photoshop.  They had a presentation with a 60GB one that was developer kit.

Well i've downloaded two episodes of Venture Bros the first one didnt work and still gives me an error even after i've redownloaded it. The other works great. I hope they release new stuff the night or next day after it airs cause this is nice. HD stuff sucks cause theres not much HD stuff.

Hopefully daybreak will be up tomorrow on VMP

Oh shit, and a few of those movies looked good.

They'd be idiots to never release a bigger hard drive and make a "DVR bundle" though.
