for real

Most of the stuff up to The Fragile is worthwhile, but it's definitely a bit dated. Product of its time.
-
I was a huge fan in high skool. I've been avoiding their newer stuff, just because I don't feel like an angry high schooler anymore and didn't feel a need to return to that kind of material. I started catching up the other day, and the material has changed, at least after With Teeth. With Teeth has a couple of catchy songs, but I found it to be mostly poop. Year Zero is decent, but I don't like it as much as The Slip, which is full of genuinely catchy stuff. And, hey, it's not all self-indulgent and angst-ridden like his 90s stuff. Trent's political commentary is not subtle, but it is fun.

One of my friends tries to tell me he's like a savior. I lol

fuck you
-
their old stuff is still pretty okay

:lol Like Reznor isn't emo. smh

I think the only material from him I've enjoyed is Downward Spiral. That's about it.
It just comes off as too busy for its own good. And I'm a Radiohead fan.

I like this song, but yeah, most of it's just too angsty for me now.

Head Like a Hole is still his best song.
-
Borys, you should listen to them.
NiN is the soundtrack to stomping wedding dresses.

Have you listened to Pretty Hate Machine? It :dressstomps TDS. I'll take the Broken EP over TDS, too.
-
broken is really his best work, i feel
-
I really need to give Broken a good listen, it seems.
-
pretty hate machine is amazing, really esp given the context of where and when he was doing the album. however i feel that broken is his most pure work.
true story, i once played wish at a rave and a moshpit broke out.
-
i've listened to pretty hate machine a couple of times, and while i liked it, it never really grabbed me like TDS
but i'm an angsty, emo teenager inside

Your new avatar just applies so well

I guess I have bad taste :'(
I'll check out Pretty Hate Machine.

They're ok. I think White Man nailed it when he said they were a product of their time. Some of their stuff just doesn't hold up 10+ years after its release.
They're worth a listen and I hear they put on a pretty good concert.

Yeah, it hasn't aged too well IMO. From a technical perspective there's a lot of impressive stuff on there, but I tried showing it to someone who'd never heard it before recently, and it didn't really impress.

Agree.
I find it's aged well too, unlike PHM.

Music elitism.
Where the insecure lock their individuality down.
I misread this, and now I want to draw a picture of an "individuality clown."

This plus Further Down the Spiral. I like The Downward Spiral, but as an overall album PHM is superior.
I saw Nine Inch Nails live last year and wasn't expecting much. I was blown away, left the show a much bigger fan than I went into it.
The NiN HD-DVD is so beautiful :-*
