I just got fired. for not meeting targeted goals, which were nebulously defined.
unbelievable. what's awesome is they will give me a two week's severance package if i give them all rights to anything i do for the next six months in the fields of voip, telecom or internet up to and including blog posts.
-
I got guns, we could take them down! :gun
Sorry you got fired boo. :(
-
the only thing which upsets me is that i didn't get to leave the company on my terms. after the great interview on friday in nyc, i'm not really concerned about my immediate future
but be on the look out for my "i'm moving and therefor selling a ton of stuff thread."

Son if you be in the NYC it's gonna be crazy EB sexiness. We're gonna storm Chinatown like ninjas and pop boners! :punch

Two weeks severance for 6 months of future work? Sounds reasonable. ::)
-
So, if you take the severance package, won't that mess up taking the job in NYC? Or are the two unrelated?
-
if i take the severance i think it will directly affect the nyc job, which is why i'm not going to take it.
-
Didn't you just get this job? Or am I thinking of someone else. ???
-
fuck, sorry to hear that dude. are you in a position to be able to move into the nyc market though?
-

Yeah, sorry. Missed the sarcasm in the initial post. I blame the hangover.
-

no. i just had a great interview with the people on Friday in NYC, which will most likely lead to a job, but I need to actually get that job.
-
Was this in response to you interviewing elsewhere, or did this come out of nowhere?

I'll take care of you, Eric.

this came out of now where.
if you all recall i got "sent home to think about what i did" when i publicly questioned the decisions and leadership qualities of our supervisor. Tacked onto that was a write up for "not performing up to par." Thursday, I had a talk with the supervisor who expressed general contentment with my progress. Today, I was fired by the VP of that group (the one who sent me home and had me written up originally) in a move that was really sudden, esp as the under performing was the reason for the termination.
-
Well, at least you have a solid prospect. I'm sure you would have relished the opportunity to quit your current job. I hope you hear back on that other job soon.
-
If it all goes bad, I am willing to pay for private webcam shows.

You can join my new synth noise band, Dangerous Nihilist Atheist Scientist. Say it a few times. It's got a good beat to it. A rhythm.

i actually have been working on some stuff in that vein. digital leather's stuff has been a big influence but i'm afraid it's too similar to let anyone else here, because i'm just trying to learn non-edm structure and the like.

I'm still in the fucking around stage with the microKORG. It's difficult to get used to the tiny keys. I want to set up a guitar as an input, but I'd need a second person to do anything effectively. It would produce unholy noise.
-
back when i first started DJing i toyed with the idea of running the turntables through effects pedals meant for guitars. i thought it would be fun and different
unfortunately the cost associated with that was rather prohibitive.
-
Well, the microKORG has 2 audio ins, so it would be easy there. Hmmm, maybe I should run my turntable through it just for shits and giggles.
What I LOVE about it is that it runs on batteries, too, so moving it around is easy.

I've seen some turntablists do this, I think Q-bert did some scratch routine through a wah-wah pedal once hehe

Got one of these, TVC?

cheap, and good fun. should be nice to do some random noise loops with this

I was curious about these. I read that the loser dude from Muse gets these built into his guitars. They are pretty cheap, but I never had a chance to play with one. I have to say that aside from getting a field recording device (and recs?), this was like number 2 on my most wanted music toys list.
-
kaos pads are a LOT of fun.
running them through ableton is a blast
-
Oh wait, Kaoss pads and the Kaosscilator are different things?
Kaosscillator = actual synth
Kaoss Pads = midi controller and shit
Makes me want a Kaosscillator even more.

Yep, it's pretty great. Actually pretty versatile, good to be able to change scales and that the arpeggiator has 50 patterns. Also the sound qual is all good for a device this tiny, here's a small loop thing I did with some tests of random sounds on top:

Tell them you want a six month severance package for owning six months of your work.
-
oh hehe ya I have a KP mini as well.
:-*
-
Yeah, the mini would be the way to go. Man, I might swing by Guitar Center this week. I REALLY want a new guitar, but I LOVE playing with the electronic shit.
-
You should have viewed your monthly stats online, then you would have known if you were meeting your goals.
-
btw. no midi control in the KP mini, it's effects only. only has RCA in/out and headphone out.

He's fired, he don't care. Besides, he's got the "buy my stuff" thread to attend to.

My right eye has been twitching all morning and argh the headache. I just wanna sleep.

if only. lol.
totally hilarious situation. you can tell that they just wanted me gone by hook or by crook. they weren't patient enough for hook so they went crook.
anyway. i'm killing things in warhammer right now.
excitement
-
Sorry to hear that, amigo. :(
I almost had the exact same situation with one of my previous jobs.
-
btw. no midi control in the KP mini, it's effects only. only has RCA in/out and headphone out.
I'm more interested in the Kaosillator, anyway, I think, because I love synthesizers. I love synthesizers so much that I changed my first name to Synthesizer.
