Title: Tonight (and tomorrow)!

I am so giddy.  Their first US tour since 2000-2001.  I only wish Blixa Bargeld were still with the band.

and opening act Earth

Most famous for pioneering drone doom and being fronted by the dude that bough Kurt Cobain his shotgun.  Although they were originally drone doom, they now do avant jazz, from what I gather.

:rock

In other music news, I am debating seeing Neil Young in October, but Death Cab is opening and I refuse to give money to that sort of filth.  Sorry Neil, you may be old and dying, but just say no to Gibbard.

Two more weeks of waiting and no Earth for me.  I think Kid Congo Powers and the Pink Monkey Birds are opening for the show I'm catching.  I'll take it.

I only managed to get to the first night.  I was feeling much like crap last night, plus I had some work I needed to get done quickly this morning.

But there's already a torrent of the first night out there.

Well that was one hell of a concert.  I think that if you cut Nick Cave open he'd bleed funk.  He was doing some awesome dancing with a tambourine during "Night of the Lotus Eaters".

Notable highlights include:

-There was no security at the concert and no bar between the people and the stage and I was front row.  Cave kneeled down and sang about a foot away from me for a good minute.  Also, he thrust his crotch at me for a similar amount of time.

-My friend had been pointing at Cave the entire night so during the final song, Stagger Lee, he got to the "And suck my dick, because If you don't you're gonna be dead" part and pointed directly at my friend.  Instead of continuing the song (he'd been playing around with some of the older songs he played) he just kept pointing at my friend for a good thirty seconds after telling him to suck his dick.

Very cool.

I hardly know any songs on that setlist, I really need to get some new Nick Cave songs...I had a period I listened to him all the time, one of my favourites.

Almost half of the songs he played were from Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! so you could catch up quickly with that.
