Title: Six Feet Under is very.... offsetting
Post by: mojovonio on September 24, 2008, 11:09:11 AM
The show can really take a toll on you. I'm up to S04E04 and god damn is this show ever good.

I love how it shows absolutley no fucking mercy too. Don't like that this character senselessly died? too fucking bad.

What disturbs me most is seeing Dexter as a pansy (not in a homophobic way). Like when that guy

takes him hostage

. I was like, "that would never fucking happen to Dexter!"

But Michael C. Hall is awesome. David and Dexter are SO different.

Yeah, it's a wild ride while it lasts, but I got sick of it after Lily Allen arc (forget all their names since I watched it years ago...) The whole idea is that you'll care for the characters, so the death gimmick will matter.  I found it hard to keep caring when their lives played out in such a predictable manner--everything's fine --> serious complication pops up that could have a physically or mentally traumatizing effect --> either resolution or death. Great fucking show, but it's hook didn't keep me till the end.

I keep wanting to see this, but when I check Amazon, the box set is some gawdawful amount of money. It appears to be the only serialized American drama which hasn't been imported to Japan. Supernatural? Check. Bones? Check. The O.C.? Yup. Prison Break? Veronica Mars? Ugly Betty? All o' those.

No Six Feet Under yet.

The series finale really put some things into perspective for me.

Greatest finale ever. You'll love it.

The box set is like 60% at Amazon, I think it's 130$ down from 200 and something.

I adore this show and I would gay-kiss Peter Krause.

The whole show is an extreme downer, but yeah, the ending is perfect.

I adore this show and I would gay-kiss Peter Krause.

Semi-derail, but did anyone ever see that "Lost Room" mini-series he was in? I keep seeing it at the vid store, but I haven't bothered yet.

The Lost Room is a shockingly original concept with above-par Sci Fi channel production values. The entire thing is botched by a compulsion to adhere to traditional good guy/bad guy paradigms, but the idea is so fun and the universe is so rich that you should totally check it out.

Huh. Good to hear, I was always a bit put off because it was a Sci-fi chanel product, not that I have anything against them, but more about concerns about budget/quality. I shall have to check it out then.

That said, if I hate it, I want free peanut butter.

Fantastic show. Yes, it gets pretty depressing, but the characters are always interesting (I looooved Brenda), and the ending is by far the best finale I've seen.

Lilly Allen arc?

whoops, I meant Lili Taylor. The chick from Seattle...I'll keep it vague in case you haven't gotten there yet.

Excellent song. And until about 3 months ago, there wasn't dick for her on iTunes Music Store (USA).
