... so far. I just saw it today and - holy shit! - was it hilarious. I am shell shocked that Smith didn't manage to ruin the original with the cock stain of a sequel.
-
No, it's right behind V for Vendetta.
And maybe Inside Man. :P :P :P
BTW -- I hit up the Secret Stash again today. Goddamn I love that place, and this time I met Walt Flannigan :-[
-
Fuck the Wachowski Bros.
This had hot chicks, racial slurs and interspecies erotica.
-
You only first saw this today? And here I am ready to bump the GAF "Clerks II" thread again, but Ichi might be on and I don't feel like getting into it tonight :(
(These new smilies fucking rock, too :-* :-* :-*)

I didn't have the time to see until it today. I took my sister to the Arclight and it was this or Little Miss Sunshine, but we both wanted to see Clerks II. Plus, I did worry about it being another Mallrats. Arclight experience + Clerks II = perfection.
Haha, I think I spit my Diet Coke when that guy was fucking the donkey and then turns and goes, "Oooh, cake! Ugh unf unf!"
-
Pretty sure you mean Superman Returns.

I pesonally enjoyed him spitting into his hand for lube :D
OT -- DAMN Flannigan (Fanboy) looks old now. The fuck?
-
Superman does ass to mouth.
-
What's wrong with that?
-
Superman doesn't have time for Ass to Mouth. He's too busy foiling another one of Lex's land schemes and being Batman's bitch.
:P

I wholly endorse and approve of the preceding message.
-
Clerks II was great, I never laughed so hard as I did during the Mr. Pillowpants scene :lol
-
:spiderman
:burgerking :starwars
-
The Pillowpants bit was hysterical for the music in the background and Randall's face alone.
-
Find Me Guilty and Inside Man are the best films I've seen this year.
-
Willco doesn't like Mallrats? Outside of the 2 Clerks movies, it's the only SMith movie I could stomach. Yeah, the movie's a mess, but it's a funny mess. It's definitely better than the next 4 movies he made after it.
-
I think it has its moments, but it's a mess and I would never own it. That said, it was worth a viewing alone for the escalator bit and Stan Lee. And I don't care for much else Smith has made after that, save for Chasing Amy and this.

Clerks 2 is good, but it's no Mallrats.

That's about how I feel. Clerks 2 has a ton of hilarious bits, but it has just enough flawed bits to keep me from calling it a awesome. Still, it's the third Kevin Smith movie I've liked.
-
Yeah, I went in expecting a train wreck of a sequel; Kevin Smith milking Clerks because he was genuinely out of ideas. But the footage he showed at Wonder-Con was funny, so I gave it a chance.
I never, ever thought that there was so much more to explore in Dante and Randall's characters. It truly was amazing and - dare I say it - almost necessary.
-
My avatar pretty much sums up that I loved Clerks II. Saw it twice in theaters. Smith's best film since Chasing Amy.

I don't know. Your avatar looks like he just came out of the movie and he's ready to kill.

I dare say the best film of the year hasn't been released yet, with Science of Sleep, Babel, The Departed, Children of Men, The Prestige, The Fountain, The Black Dahlia, The Good Shepard, Casino Royale, etc., all to come out from Sept-Dec. On an off-topic note, this is going to be the most solid fall movie season in years.
As for Clerks II, I shall wait for the DVD or a TV showing. To say I have not been a fan of Smith's other movies is putting it mildly.

None of those will be the best of the year! Fountain, Royale and Prestige will make my top 10 but Clerks II is #1. No question.

Id wager the work of Scorsese, Cuaron, Gondry, Nolan, Aronofsky, and De Palma (depending on which Brian shows up) will trump Smith without breaking a sweat.

Pffft, come on, only criterion loving film snobs would put those useless people ahead of fun summer movies and blockbusters(except Nolan of course). :elf
-
I don't know about that but Clerks is the best smallbuster of the summer.

Well it made more money (due to smaller budget) than Superman Returns did!
-
Until The Departed and The Fountain come out, Clerks II is my #2 film 0f 2006. No question.
-
I was really freaked out by the gnome scene :-X :-X :-X
-
I watched the first 10 minutes and got bored. Please tell me it picks up afterward and I might go back.
-
You've seen nothing at all in the first 10 minutes.
-
ok, I'll go back when I get a chance.

Jeez, you were so turned off by the store burning and the title sequence that you stopped watching? I don't know if you'll like the film, you don't strike me as having the necessary attention span ::)

I thought the entire range of jokes in the film was just swearing, which is very boring in my opinon- I just used the first 10 minutes as a sample. I watched a space odessey all the way through..hardly a short attention span. Just a busy person.
-
I saw Clerks II today. It's good, and it eventually goes beyond simple swearing jokes.
Kevin Smith still can't direct at all, but it's entertaining anyhow.
Ooh, Cake. :rofl

Smith can direct actors very well I think. He just can't ever move the camera! However, Clerks II had a shocking amount of camera movement for a Smith film.

Only Criterion loving slobs would put Marty Scorsese over a summer popcorn flick? No, only people who enjoy good films would do such a thing. If knowing Smith couldn't hold (or get with 100 yards of) Marty's jock, makes one a snob, then sign me up. Pronto!

great movie.

nowhere near as good as the first. First one was pretty good but this was average.

qft without reading the rest of the thread.
This movie is damn near a masterpiece, and completely beyond my wildest expectations when I heard it was announced. Of course, those expectations were that it would be dogshit. Instead I got probably Kevin Smith's best film.
