I solo most of the time, on an Roleplaying server like im on people are weird anyway
The graphics sure look nice. I wish this game a better fate than Age of Conan's.
1. Auction House: Needs work in terms of search criteria, especially in the crafting supplies department (e.g., I can’t search for apothecary-specific ingredients).
2. Pet Control: My pet can sometimes be a nightmare to control. He’ll run off in random directions, ignore commands, get stuck, and he’s generally not very responsive.
3. Combat Bugs: Sometimes I’ll get a message saying “target not visible” or “target out of range” when I’m trying to melee a mob, when it is obviously standing right in front of me within melee range. Strangely, I’m able to fire off my bow at point-blank range. Is this merely a display issue?
4. Mob Pathing: Sometimes they lag or appear to freeze and then port directly in front of me. This may also be related to #3 above. They also like to visually stick to you when they’re snared or knocked down.
5. Collision Detection: People will be pushing against me and then when they finally break through, they teleport 30 yards beyond me.
6. General Performance: Lately, I’ve found the game to perform graphically worse than usual. I used to be able to record a FRAPS movie at 45+ frames per second and now my system drops into the 18-25 FPS range. The interface responsivess is also extremely sticky (moving inventory items, opening and deleting mail, etc.)
7. Character Display Bugs: Sometimes my weapons will still be glowing even though I’m no longer buffed. Sometimes my avatar will have a giant beam of light protruding from his chest. These effects don’t disappear until I die or log off. Currently, my Squig Herder sppears to have a broken arm because it is sticking straight out and bent into a flexing pose. Animations aren’t set back when your spells are set back.
8. Pets Unaffected by Root: This one is hard to admit because I actually benefit from it, but pets appear to be unaffected by PBAE roots.
9. Target Nearest: Range should be increased. Sometimes tab-targeting doesn’t catch enemies from a long distance, even when they’re the only enemy on screen. This gives mouse-targeters a distinct advantage.
10. Alt-tab: This is completely kills your game visually if done in fullscreen mode. I run it in Windowed mode to solve the issue, but I think this may be causing some of my system performance issues. Not sure why…
11. Loading Screen Lockups - I haven’t encountered this much, but people are reporting getting hung up on the loading screens or booted back to their character selection screens from the loading screens at times.
12. Item Links in Chat - Not a bug, but definitely one of the most missed features in our guild!
13. Gear Graphics/Artwork - This is mostly an annoyance really… How come we can find a new weapon with 2x as much DPS and stats as our previous one, yet they look identical? I would appreciate a lot more visual variety! Even very special PQ rewards share the same graphics as the basics. It would be great to see your character visually evolve rather than just going up a number.
14. Leveling Through RvR - This only works if you’re keeping pace with the curve. Once people out-level you, it becomes much more difficult to XP through scenarios or open-world RvR. Even a week after release, we’re already seeing this become an issue in T1. It will be starting in T2 shortly…
15. Lowbie Dungeons - According to some of my guildies and Tobold, the drops in Sacellum are complete garbage compared to what you can get via public quests, normal quests, drops, or RvR. I can understand if you want the RvR gear to rule the day, but at least make it close to worth our while?
16. Rare Item Loot Bags - Maybe you would consider increasing the drop rate on some of the better (than green) loot bags in public quests? Since I first got into beta (many months ago), I’ve completed dozens upon dozens of PQs and I only ever got one purple drop. It was in the chapter 1 Greenskin starting area at level 4 and I had replaced it by level 7 due to a better quest reward…
17. Access our ToK Online - I’d actually read every word of my ToK if it were available online, through an official website. The only time I currently read it is when I’m waiting for the 30-seconds to expire before my scenario starts or as I’m auto-running to the next quest location.
public quests sound fun. I prefer soloing but I love quests that rely on teamwork, and I love instances even more.
All I'm hearing is that this game is pure PvP in the endgame.
i just picked this up last night!
does Open have the chicken "buff"?
Ooo, when do I get stealth? Witch Hunters really are total WoW rogues.
Yeah, I had a blast tonight. I love that tehre's so many different things you can be doing at any given time, between PQs, RvR, scenarios, and just plain questing. There's always something else to try out. We gotta team up again tomorrow.

Is that a steam tank next to Le Gay?
uh wow reading the patch notes for today looks like they got rid of something I was benefiting from pretty often:
I thought i had insane luck or something because whenever those popped up during RVR I won the item probably 90% of the time due to a lucky roll
now I cant get easy items and auction them off or salvage them for fragments if they arent for my class
yesterday i got a purple rare item :o
hate me all you want, if you need me ill be rolling in some gold over here...
i only did it for like a day or so now that its patched im good again!
the more videos/previews I look at the more I'm interested. but jeez, I dunno if I can play two mmos at the same time
We're gonna play tomorrow, right?
I am going to go get some food and then I am hopping on again.
Sorry Eric, I dont really group; I like the freedom of being a lone wolf.
I dunno, I kinda like being TOP DAWG HEALER on the charts
I dunno, I kinda like being TOP DAWG HEALER on the charts
i think it's the lack of healing.
if i heal, i know that at least one person is going to be doing good healing, but then this means that there's one less competent person going to be doing tanking/dpsing which means that my healer will most likely get surrounded and then summarily executed. w/ destruction i don't have to worry about that as much
thats awesome
i want to roll a zealot or some sort of healer for destruction, im sick of my witch elf never getting healed :(
Let’s start with what we know is some truly exciting news. I’m happy to announce that in December, the Black Guard and the Knight of the Blazing Sun will officially be part of WAR. We have very special plans around their appearance and in our next newsletter we will provide full details about that exciting and rather novel event. When they were cut from the game launch plans earlier this year, I said that the Black Guard and the Knight would be part of WAR only when they were great and deserved their place alongside all of WAR’s other compelling classes. I also said that we would not charge any additional fees for this new content or put it in a separate expansion pack; that’s not how we operate. We’ve kept to that plan and with the introduction of these two classes, Mythic shows that once again we are happy to keep giving players more value for their subscription dollars than any other MMORPG developer.more here: http://herald.warhammeronline.com/warherald/NewsArticle.war?id=386
Creating an MMORPG, especially an RvR-focused MMORPG, which runs perfectly on all types of PCs, is one of the most challenging technical aspects of game development. While the performance of WAR is great on most higher spec machines, we know that we can improve its performance on lower spec machines. We’ve been working non-stop to improve that performance and we’ve got a number of things going into the game between now and 1.1 that we expect will help to address everything from crashes to desktops (CTDs) to stuttering. We have a number of other client changes that will improve things such as propagation and ghosting.
Moving on to some more good news for our RvR players; we have brought additional resources to bear on, and augment, our RvR gear and overall itemization. In 1.1 (and beyond) we will be doing a myriad of things for our RvR players, including improving gear drops, increasing drop rates, and implementing an RvR-influence system to compliment the current PvE-influence system. We will also be giving players more incentive to engage in open RvR by improving the rewards for both assaulting and defending in RvR. WAR is an RvR-centric game and we will continue to do whatever is necessary to encourage people to join in RvR and reward them when they do so.
Other changes for 1.1 include major additions to the chat system (item linking and more) as well as continued work on our targeting system, including adding Main Assist and Target of Target. In addition to the server balancing methods that have worked so well over the last week, we will also be offering the first server transfers to our players to continue to help even out the server populations. These transfers will be free of charge but they will be limited to moves off high-population servers to select mid-population servers or off of low-population servers to a selection of mid-population servers. Much like we are doing now, we will select certain mid-population servers and let people transfer there. Once they reach a certain population level, we’ll remove them from the list and give their spot to another server. We will publish the list ahead of time so players can plan their moves accordingly.
While that might seem like a lot for a month, we’re not done yet! We’ll also be adding more exciting content to the game, including fourteen entirely new quest chains, two new Lairs, and many more Tome of Knowledge unlocks! This is only the first of what will be our ongoing content updates to WAR and it is a great start.
So, that about wraps it up for this first annual State of the Game, so without further ado…
Okay, so I was joking, we’re still not done. Over the last month the team has been looking at all the careers and building up a list of issues/concerns to address. Almost every career is going to see some changes and love coming their way and there are very, very few changes that will be seen as reductions to a career’s abilities. The Combat and Careers team has spent the last month looking at the changes that they want to make with an eye towards making improvements and buffs, not removing or weakening abilities. I won’t go into details here but the vast majority of careers all have nothing but love coming their way. Of course, we will continue to monitor and track all the class data so expect, like every other MMORPG, changes to the careers to be an ongoing process.
Well, that just about wraps my first WAR State of the Game and I hope that it has given you some insight into what we are going to be doing over the next month or so. This is by no means a comprehensive list of everything we are working on and I won’t go anywhere near talking about general bug fixes. The items mentioned above are just some of the highlights of our first major patch and I hope you agree that there is a ton of good stuff coming down the pipeline.
Once again, I thank you for your support, patronage and interest in WAR.
