Yep, definitely one of the better Super Hero movies. Supposedly next year... though thats hard to believe.

If done well that could work. I dunno though, Iron Man's villain canon doesn't seem to be that great

Maybe this was debated to death in some other thread but I don't care, I just saw the movie and I'm calling the next movie's villain:

It's gonna be the bald terrorist dude who kidnapped Tony. Why? Because he will become the Mandarin!
How do I know this? Well, he is the leader of a group called the Ten Rings, and in one scene you see him fingering a prominent pinkie ring with a huge stone. He's gonna get 9 more rings and magic up. Boo ya!

Also I dont think Rhodes sounds badass enough to fill the role needed with War Machine, like they hinted at. Maybe if they add a voice modulator.

Not a bad idea. And Wikipedia has just reminded me that the rings were from an alien spaceship, not magic.
Although Mark Millar reportedly talked Favreau out of using the Mandarin as a villain at all due to the hokey 'Ming the Merciless' nature of the character. I have to say, he has a point.

Also, when watching the film with a few others, I got asked if Iron Man has any villains who wear armour in the comics. I had to reply 'yeah, pretty much all of them...'.  Most of his villains are pretty unmemorable, it has to be said. Still, if they have problems finding a good villain for Iron Man, what the hell are they gonna do for the Dazzler movie? Man, that sounds like a train wreck already...maybe they can get Mariah Carey to star...

Iron Man's rogue gallery blows.  They should just create their own villain and make him totally badass.

Also, it should open up with Hulk and Iron Man having a brawl in the middle of the street - Iron Man ultimately defeating him and having Fury haul Banner off in a straight jacket.

Why would they fight each other?  Iron Man falls into the tragic abyss of alcoholism and becomes too intoxicated to save the world.  Rhodey steps up and defeats bad guys as War Machine.  But since he is dumb, he gets caught and will die BUT OH NOES TONY STARK HAS DEFEATED ALCOHOLISM AND MARKS HIS TRIUMPHANT RETURN BY RESCUEING TEH WAR MACHINES AND THEY TAG TEAM TEH VILLAINZ!

there you have it. That's the start of the movie right there. Toss in an alcoholism subplot, which will have additional resonance after the Hulk fight ('oh noes, Stark is a rampaging human WMD too, after a couple of bottles of Scotch!'), which gives you a 2nd act, wrap up the Mandarin in the 3rd with the help of the Hulk and Nick Fury, and end on the formation of the Avengers. Done and done.

Just rewatched the movie on Blu ray, last time I saw it was back on release day. I forgot how fun the movie is, and how much I loved RDJ as Tony. I really can't wait until the next one (5/7/10 or something like that).

I just watched it again on blu-ray.  I forgot how awesome this movie was.

Only dumb thing about the blu-ray release is that the scene after the credits isn't a seperate scene and you need to actually fast forward through the credits to see this.

And it was a great choice to cut the scene where Rhodes saves Iron Man.  Iron Mongers greatest weakness is an Audi.

I kind of want to see a Captain America movie. Somehow all Marvel movies seem to turn out pretty good, or at least watchable, and I think Captain America could come out pretty good if done right. I wish DC would start milking it's characters other than Batman.

Re: DC pimping their characters, yeah, I think they see: Batman = hit, Superman = expensive failure, and think "Oh, only Batman will make money."

The Watchmen movie was in production hell so long, I'm worried. It looks sexy, but I can't even read the comic in three hours, not sure how they'll make it into a 90 min. movie.

A live action Teen Titans flick with Megan Fox in the Starfire costume is guaranteed money. Or money shots.

I'm desperately trying to come up with other DC franchises without scoping wikipedia, and failing. Doom Patrol? JLA, sure, but that's getting back to the Batman/Superman thing.
