Got back from my shopping and watched the Gas Crisis one. Charlie is fucking awesome.
-
it really is
thank you, hulu
i'm still in season 2, and i saw ''mac bangs dennis' mom'' yesterday--it's my favorite episode so far
charlie :'(
-
they're all pretty good except for the first one
i can't get into that one at all
-
It has gotten more outrageous, starting with season 3. I liked it a lot better when it was more, er, plausible and grounded. Now it's just wacky comedy, with completely unrealistic characters. Not to mention unfunny pop culture references.
-
I'm watching the Dance episode now. Mac is the best dancer ever.
-

First episode is totally awesome. And I *somewhat* agree with duckman, as when I just watched the first episode again recently it just felt so much different than the newer stuff. But I love it all. :D
-
manhunters >>>>> gas crisis
-
I got through season 2 and part of season 3 but I never found the show to be that great.
leper this filth

iirc, you're not the only one here that thinks that way. i really don't get why that episode is any different to the other ones to you guys
''how's that ass feeling?'' killed me
cajole, can you make a gif of that? :-*
-
yeah, i meant to do that a while ago, but i couldn't figure out how to make gifs in CS3
i'm on it, bud ;)
-
yeah ''how's that ass feeling?'' was classic and very gif-able. I'd like to see that too. :lol
-
I saw the gas crisis one yesterday. Definitely one of the better episodes :lol
still haven't seen Manhunters
-
First episode was awesome. Mac getting Dennis to teach him to to drink tequila was amazing.
-
I haven't seen an episode I didn't like.
-
I got through season 2 and part of season 3 but I never found the show to be that great. It was just something to pass the time while I was at work. I'll probably revisit it once my daily viewing isn't stuck focused on the election and economy.
Pretty much the same here. As much as i like immorality and craziness on film, it just didn't work for me.
Charlie is fucking awesome though. i'll watch the show just for him and Dee's sexy fivehead.
-
DAMN good show
-
Mac Bangs Dennis' Mom made me feel absolutely horrible. I couldn't believe how bad I felt after watching it. Charlie :'(
I think I liked season 1 the best so far. I've seen 1, 2, and parts of 3 (all of 3 is not on hulu). 1 reminded me of a raunchier Seinfeld, 3 right now is more like...I don't know. I don't like Danny Devito. He sucks.
-
man, i was dying at the end of 'mac bangs dennis's mom' -- probably the funniest moment of the first two seasons. that tirade the waitress goes on is great. and charlie :'(
i think devito's really funny on the show, though frank's character doesn't make much sense. i wondered if he'd ruin things, but he didn't really alter the show's personality
-
I wasn't big on Devito showing up, but yeah, he fits right in now.
-
Devito in Season 2 wasn't that good, but Season 3 and 4 he is good. I think the progression of the show is very similar to Peep Show (the other recent show I consider truly funny). At the start it isn't so crazy and you can even relate to scenarios going on, but some seasons go by and you have people eating dead dogs and dancing their asses off. I still find the wackiness hilarious.
-
Yeah, I'm just starting season 3 so I could see that. I loved season 1 and I was worried Devito would tear apart that dynamic. And he sort of does. But the entire show kind of changes so you deal with it.
I thought the Mac Banging Mom episode was FUNNY until the end, when I was like...wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. It was a well written episode, but I don't have the kind of stomach for that I guess.
drohne, you really don't think he alters the show's personality? Even season 1 to season 2 is like...a huge difference to me. And then season 3 opens with "The gang finds a dumpster baby." Dennis becomes completely evil in season 2. This scheming bastard is the one that was tricked by Mac into drinking 10 tequila shots? Naaaaa
-
i feel like the show's level of 'realism' fluctuates pretty freely -- there are random-ass episodes and then relatively character-driven ones. but i haven't started watching season 3 yet
honestly all the characters on the show are assholes, though you feel bad for charlie, and i guess sweet dee as the token female has the structural obligation of being the gang's conscience
-
alright, i'm like two-thirds of the way through season 3, and although the show's basically turned into a live action cartoon, it's completely fucking hilarious. the night man and day man bits are classic -- i'm glad i never watched the clips on youtube. it's not just that the songs and scenes are hilarious -- it's that charlie means to express something personally important here except it all comes out in a hopelessly charlie manner. the bit in the 'day man' scene where he's like 'what's going on up here' with his eyes red and watery from sniffing spray paint fumes in the dark is funny and depressing! charlie :heart :'(
HOWEVER
dennis might be even funnier than charlie now. like...what happened to him between seasons 2 and 3. he was always a vain asshole and perhaps latently homosexual, but now he's like american psycho jr. i think the shirt comes off for no good reason in every single episode. his monologue to the mirror in the fatty mcgoo episode? omg
-
I think it's a great show but they are definitely on a Simpsons-style progression curve, where plots are going to become increasingly more implausible and characters become more and more cartoonish.
DeVito does not ruin the show, but at the end of the day he seems more and more superfluous. He doesn't really drive though show, and when they devote plot threads to him it's usually just boring. The classic things that people seem to remember about "It's Always Sunny..." never revolve around him. The writing is good enough that he isn't needed to draw viewers, but if a big star is what it took to keep the show alive during rocky times then I must salute him all the same. The problem is that they don't really need him anymore, but are obligated to keep him around and use him frequently just because he's probably drawing a huge paycheck.
-
inspired by this thread's rise to the top of the topic list, i am watching Mac Bangs Dennis' Mom before bed
-
"Silence your mouth" :lol

that actually kinda made me chuckle, but the ending of ''hundred dollar baby'' was way worse, man.
what the fuck was that all about.
