Title: hey Mr. MAF how are the Fables
Post by: Howard Alan Treesong on October 01, 2008, 02:17:49 PM
I heard that the original arc wrapped up with 75? is it a good time to jump back in and finish up? (I only got to the marionette war in Fabletown my first time with the series)

do we ever find out who the Adversary is?

I'm not MAF and I haven't read up to 75 (been reading the TPBs) but... you do learn about the Adversary. The series is great up 'til the last volume to come out (10), in my opinion.  The last was a bit off but good enough... I guess :-\

Yes we do, the Adversary is revealed almost right after the war in fable town, but I wasn't keen on the direction Wolf n White took, mostly because it took two of my favorite characters out of the spotlight.

I realllly dont know why they did a spin-off of jack, instead of saying fuck continuity, its crazy fucking goldilocks time

You do gain a new respect for Boy Blue a bit later on, and I havent read Vol 10 even tho i've bought it.

that they revealed this guy was "the Adversary" and he got punked like, in the same issue. that was fake, right? if that was the actual Adversary reveal I will be :-\

Real Adversary totally makes sense considering the war on fabletown.

the Real Adversary?

I always thought that would make sense, as he's a "puppetmaster" ... but I thought they revealed him being held prisoner by the Adversary or something and a broken old man. UNLESS THAT WAS PSYCHOUT TOTAL

You got it SP.

I don't really get the Jack of Fables spin-off.  First volume OK, second meh.  Should've just kept him in the normal series.
And I can see what you're saying about Wolf and White MAF but I was OK with it myself since everything else stayed pretty interesting.  Read the tenth volume and say what you think!  I wasn't crazy about it but I'll keep reading.

I just always found that aside from their marital issues, beauty and the beast were kinda boring. Prince Charming is ace tho.

Yeah, they kinda are  :-\  Fortunately the story doesn't actually focus on them all that often.

I know but Bigby Wolf is ace. My favorite issue is still the one where

Wolf and Snow face off against crazy ass Goldilocks and Snow drives an axe into her head haha.
