Title: I want to like Ben Stein so much but then he gets all whacky conservative

I don't even disagree with his viewpoints or recommendations. And he's one of the few conservatives that don't regurgitate McTesty's talking points (McCain is a maverick, Obama sat on the sidelines, etc.). But then gets all up in arms over stuff like right to life and it kills the whole fantasy.

Like Dennis Miller. He was never good at thinking on his feet, but his prepared rants were always worthwhile for geeky references. I think when we were attacked, he folded up like a deckchair.
