"Let's Play On Wii" Nintendo re-releasing GC games for the Wii

Quote
Quote
A new series of software is coming out called "Let's Play On Wii," according to Iwata. The series will bring back popular titles like Pikmin that were released on GameCube, but they will adapted for play on Wii.

Gamecube games getting re-released for the Wii with added Wii controls. Probably at full price too.

What's up with this shit? Is it so hard to make some new games? And the Wii can already play Gamecube games you dipshits. No need for re-releases. Who care about Wii controls...

Nintendo, seriouslyyyyyy....

Wii is reaching a broader audience than GameCube did. Therefore, it is really not such a bad idea to put the spotlight on perfectly good (*cough* first party *cough*) games people missed out on while they were playing Devil May Cry, Halo or internet checkers.

I'd support this only if the games retail for a low price, but this is Nintendo so you can expect them to be $50. What I would like to see is them producing some more Wavebirds.

I think this is actually a smart move on Nintendo's part.  It really is them admitting a few things:

1 - The Gamecube was a failure
2 - They understand their fans are stupid and will buy anything
3 - They don't want to make games for the Wii anymore

Everything we knew for a while now, except now it is out in the open.

It's not like the games didn't sell well on the Gamecube...but they can work with the game for an hour to put in Wii controls, then sell 100,000+ more copies which will pretty much be straight profit.

No one bitched at RE4 Wii, this is no different, besides that RE4 Wii added the PS2 extras.

Are these physical releases?
I'm assuming yes, unless they decide to fix Wii's storage problems.

I'd get Pikmin again for $20-30, I guess.

Well if Biohazard Zero is anything to go by, the price will be lower than usual, but still way too high.  That game sells for 3900 yen. (A little less than forty bucks)

I remember plenty of bitching, but RE4 Wii at least got new controls that made sense, plus the PS2 stuff.  It's Biohazard Zero and now Biohazard that just make you wonder why.  I swear Zero looks worse on my Wii than it did on my Game Cube, but maybe it's just the differences in the TVs I played them on.

OUCH.

But having never played DK Jungle Beat, I'd get that if the controls are done well.  Don't want those bongos.

Even Nintendo is admitting their lineup is so barren that they have to go back and rehash old games. :rofl

I don't imagine waggle would be better than playing with the bongos.  DK:JB is one of the best platformers in years and bongo controls are a big reason why.

Yep, one of my favorite GC games last gen.  It was so much fun and those bongos played a huge role in that.  Without them, it will still be a solid platformer, but it certainly won't have the unique feel to it that you had with the bongos.

That probably is the case.  Did you, perhaps, originally play the game on a CRT while now playing it on an LCD?  The low resolution of the games would certainly produce inferior picture quality on an LCD.

God, I hate card based games. I even loathed KH: Chain of Memories because of the cards. And I'm a big KH fan.

Yes, they are card-based RPGs. I bought both of them for like $10 new, but I've never been able to get into them. Since this isn't GAF and Dragona can't ban me, I'll be honest and say that I detest card-based systems.

Did you try them both out? BK:O's battle system is much different from BK1's. Although I slightly prefer BK1's battle system (albeit its slowness) due to some of the subtle intricacies in it, everything about BK:O is like 100000000x better.

YAY

To be fair Microsoft charged $60 for Halo 3, and Sony charges $60 for MGS4

It's good to see Nintendo doing something different. Sure these games were on the Gamecube but putting them on the Wii changes everything. It's really like buying an album on vinyl then upgrading to CDs years later. Same content, better execution

I bet its priced at about $30 here. Maybe about $5.00 high, but have you seen some of the ridiculous prices places like Gamesop charge for many USED Gamecube games. Wouldn't be surprised if its like $18.00 for Pikmin 2 and shit. I saw Mario Tennis up there once for like $35.00.  ::)

Part of the reason PS2 backwards comp. worked well is because of the success of Playstation. (yes, duh, BUT THERES MORE!)

The success equated to more product in consumer hands, which equates to more used copies and prolonged circulation of the older software.

Gamecube software availability is nowhere near that, so this is a way to allow the new users access to a library of games highly underrated because the gaming community was having a small-dick crisis at the time(and still is!).  Of course, Nin will probably rip people off for it, considering used GC games are in the $10 range.

like Pikmin 1 & 2 waggle bundle will be worth 30 clams If you havent played that shit before, but this is typical Nintendo butt fuckery

But then again, I dont blame them! If I had distinguished mentally-challenged fans that would buy my games over and over If I re-release them in/on a different coloured box and I'd make cuntloads of money.... I'd fucking do it too

How the hell is that a "fair" comparison? Whether or not you feel there are enough groundbreaking changes from Halo 2-to-3 and from Metal Gear whatever-to-even-more-whatever, the games were definitely full games in and of themselves. On the other hand, this is Ninendo taking games for Gamecube, which already play on Wii, adding some contextual controls, and expecting people to buy them all over again. That's hardly analogous.

would any gamecube game actually work better with wii controls?

If other companies jump on this trend i could see myself buying MOH: Frontline again, because I really liked the controls in Heroes 2.  Especially with an added rail-shooter mode, I'd definitely be in for that.
