Why in the bloody fuck would I download an application that's going to install a server on my PC that does god knows what before I can watch the videos there.
Jesus, you know how that thing works, right? When you download the helper, they're getting your IP address. That application then sits and waits for data to come in in their specified port to your PC, whereupon it does whatever it's been asked to do. That *could* be playing a video based on a URL it's been sent, but it could very well also be installing viruses and shit.
Here's what I'm saying:
After you install the NinjaHelper shit, you're then actually loading links like this when you want to watch a movie:
http://127.0.0.1:64653/10947
What that's doing is connecting to your PC via a port that that NinjaHelper (running in the background on your system) is scanning. The NinjaHelper takes the 10947 part of that URL and then goes to their site and begins downloading the actual video from wherever they're storing it.
The big problem with that is fuck only knows what else they could randomly send to your PC via that port, and then their software running in the background could very well have full control over your PC. They've likely got a log of your IP address from when you downloaded their helper, and they're able to sell that off along with some other (unknown to Joe Public) piece of controlling software to crooks looking to fuck with you.

Incredibly paranoid? Of course. But shit, I don't want Russian fuckers stealing my credit card info or some shit.
It could also be a huge fucking trap created by the fat cats on Wall Street to catch Joe Sixpack watching an illegal copy of the latest Larry the cable guy film.
I downloaded a sample of Indy 4 DVD rip. I don't get it, does he survive a nuclear blast by hiding in a fridge?

No credit card info here! They'd give up after sifting through a thousand files of stupid bullshit. Plus, I just put electrical tape over my mbp's webcam, CRISIS AVERTED!It could also be a huge fucking trap created by the fat cats on Wall Street to catch Joe Sixpack watching an illegal copy of the latest Larry the cable guy film.
my understanding was that as long as it's streaming it's not illegal. I'm probably wrong.I downloaded a sample of Indy 4 DVD rip. I don't get it, does he survive a nuclear blast by hiding in a fridge?
