The music list is stellar. I probably won't even need to use custom soundtracks at this pace.
-
"Down Under" - Men At Work
"Karma Chameleon" - Culture Club
"Pretty In Pink" - Psychedelic Furs
"Take On Me" - A-Ha
"The Reflex" - Duran Duran
"Don't You (Forget About Me)" - Simple Minds
"Out of Touch" - Hall & Oats
"Sister Christian" - Night Ranger
"Everybody Wants To Rule The World" - Tears For Fears
"Everybody's Working For The Weekend" - Loverboy
"The Final Countdown" - Europe
That's the only station that I'm going to listen to. Well, that and the EZZY listening one. The EZZY station in the original game was was pretty fucking out there.....I like that.
-
yeah I loved EZZY and Classical in the first one. The underground one doesnt seem as interesting though
-
Where the hell is the dance music station?
The rap station is really weak, too. I expected something gritty considering the game genre, not something I'd hear on Hot 97
80's station is fantastic though.
Sorry, but I'm gonna have to give GTAIV the edge on this one, because they didn't forget about me.
-
Just copy and paste your Wipeout HD tracks. There's your dance station.

Yeah, but considering dance music is pretty popular, at least in the non-US, it's a big oversight.
-
Good list, but music isnt really a big thing in these type of games. I was pleasently surprised to find Reggie and TFE in the first one.
-
If you keep saying it's better than GTA, it might come true.
Custom soundtrack > *
Shame 360 really fuct up the way custom soundtracks are handled in games. Original Xbox used to include your soundtrack in the game mix. Now it's like a seperate channel that you have to adjust from the dash.
-
Yeah. Console standardized custom soundtracks are cool feature, but it takes away big part of the charm of game specific custom soundtracks. Going from the brilliant way PGR2 dealt with custom soundtracks to PGR3 was lame. Even now when playing Wipeout HD, I still find it awesome when my music changes as I go in tunnels or get some air.
-
Saints Row 2 has sucker MC's. This is automatically better then the shitty GTA stations that played Top Down every other song.
GTAIV had live at the bbq.
But SR2 has New York State of Mind.
So SR2 wins.
-
:bow Mastodon
-
Night Ranger fucking own
hopefully theres shitloads of classical music in this one too. I just cranked the mean Chopin and Bach playlist in Saints Row 1 lol
-
I cant wait, SR2 for life, GTABORE go to hell
-
Too bad it's not a different Mastodon songs than the one in RB2.
-
I cant wait, SR2 for life, GTABORE go to hell
pretty sure there's no one left on the GTABORE bandwagon. even founding taco himumu left
-
"Sister Christian" - Night Ranger
I loved launched buses over ramps in slow-mo to this song in Vice City.
Also, I really hope that SR2 keeps that hilariously out-of-place upbeat lounge music from the first game. Nothing was more awesome than having those songs play in the background while you went on an insane killing spree.
-
This game looks so fucking awesome. I can't hate it anymore.

Ahg! Remember how much freaking money THQ spent to launch SR1 in Japan? That huge event in Shibuya; HUMMERS and DJs and fly girls... it looked like the loneliest bunch of "cool people" in Japan.
-
probably with all the Z rated stuff
-
It was with Fable 2 and Fallout 3 in the Z-rate booth
How the F is Fable 2 Z-Rated? :maf

If I had to guess, I would say that it's the ability to murder your own spouse.
It is rated M, after all.

Gambling?
Unless Molyneux also gave the ability to ass-rape your enemies as a finishing move.
-
IGN gave it an 8.2

Choice quotes from just the summary:
Saints Row 2 isn't a GTA killer, it's a GTA alternative.
On Sound:
Songs play a bit too often on the radio but there’s a good selection of stations to pick from.
-
songs played too long on the radio in gta too distinguished mentally-challenged fellows
-
Should be 9.2 for sheer fun alone.
What kills me is I read this, and am in despair:
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/more-questions-over-ea-thq-performance-this-christmas
"We predict that Saints Row 2 will sell 2.25 million lifetime units in the US across the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
"We believe that THQ will be dependent on the performance of several key owned-IP titles including Saints Row 2 in 2H:F09 to meet financial expectations."
Cowen also noted that it expects Take-Two's Midnight Club: Los Angeles to sell 3.25 million units in US and 500,000 copies of BioShock for the PS3.
GTA IV sells 8.5 million units and "isn't meeting sales projections," but a game like SR2 will sell 1/4 of that, even though the original is more fun than GTA IV... :( :'(
-
IGN gave it an 8.2
GTA superior confirmed. I still might try out the watered down glitchy clone, but GTA is still superior. :bow :bow2
-
IGN also said that clunky lock on is better than free aim. Anyone who played Saints Row 1 or Mercs 2 knows this simply isn't true and that GTA4 has assy shooting.
-
I'm pretty sure IGN is trying to save face
Which they of course failed to do
Like GTA did

Who was the one that went through every accomplishment in that "shitty" game?

It's cool holmes, I won't dish out any more massive ownage. I have to keep my powers under control.
Also, this game better have a rocket launcher.

Another thing, will it take an hour to go down a set of stairs in SR2? No? Then my $60 is JUSTIFIED.
Oh, man. I'm re-playing GTA IV and dealing with stairs in multi-level apartment buildings is just so ass-like. Niko can go UP stairs like Superman by jumping, but down? That goofy, almost-right sideways stumble Niko does on the stairs going down, and i give up, and jump forward, and it rolls and takes even more time to recover from the roll, and Niko can't just "turn in place," he has to show off his Euphoria middleware and lean into it, turning with all the grace of a Lincoln Towncar, but all I want to do is a fucking 180º turn so I can reach the next flight of stairs and do it again.
Worst of all, there are missions which finish at the top of apartments, and leave me there, even though most of them will kindly warp you back to the ground level when the task is done. Consistency! :maf
