Hey, this game is pretty fun. It's basically a stealth/puzzle action game that can be thought of as a cross between Tenchu and Bomberman. The stages are one screen and you are free to move about horizontally and vertically. You don't have to actually "hide" anywhere; instead the enemies all display a certain field of vision, and as long as you don't step inside it, you're okay. Various traps appear throughout the stages, and you can set them or throw them at enemies to take them out. There's 30 single player stages with different objectives like kill the boss, kill all the enemies, reach the goal, etc. Just like the regular Tenchu games, plus a multiplayer battle mode for up to four players. Haven't tried this part out yet since no one was playing it.
The one thing that really comes to mind when playing this is how this is exactly what Tenchu DS should have been.

Ahh, so it's like a regular Tenchu game. *rimshot*
I'm definitely gonna try out the demo when I get my 360 back this weekend. I wish a good Tenchu game would come out...I was able to enjoy Wrath of Heaven, but that was when I was more innocent about game quality. They need one that totally rips off MGS, but with a ninja skin.

:lol What I mean is, there's no standing up against walls, crouching to avoid being seen, grappling to a higher area, that kind of thing. I get a bit of a Trap Gunner vibe from it.
With Tenchu, my favorites are:
-Tenchu Shinobi Gaisen (PSone) (This is the U.S. version back in Japanese, with a level editor and bonus level)
-Tenchu Shinobi Hyakusen (PSone) (Stand-alone expansion to Sinobi Gaisen with 100 fan-made levels and the level editor)
-Tenchu Fatal Shadows (PS2) (Still have yet to beat this actually...enjoyed what I played though)
-Tenchu Shinobi Taizen (PSP) (K2's best Tenchu game, awful draw distance aside, it rocked)
I played through all of Tenchu 2 too, but spent far more time in the level editor than with the actual game. Looking forward to Tenchu 4 on Wii; it's only a few weeks away in J-Land.

This game isn't bad. I only tried the first two levels in the trial, but I might actually pick it up.
And the stick ball and rhythm game on XBLA that came out today are awful.

Lyte--
would you recommend the PSP game over the PS1 games? I dunno why, but I have a sudden craving to revisit tenchu.
also, is the 360 version as bad as the demo made it out to be?

Don't buy this game, lyte bought a PSP beat em up with naked young girls

I thought the 360 version was so-so (for a Tenchu game). Coming off the PSP version, there is a huge lack of character play styles (the PSP version has a bunch of unlockable characters; virtually every major character you can think of going back to the original game is playable...even Echigoya and the ninja dog!)
The PSP game is definitely better than the PSone games. It has a bunch of missions with five story modes (Rikimaru, Ayame, Rin, Tesshu, and Onikage), a crapload of playable characters as mentioned above, and a HUGE level editor (wish any of the PS2 games or the 360 version had this!).
What brings it down? The draw distance. It's brutal; we're talking PSone Tenchu levels here. But I can't say it ever bothered me. I had no problems beating the game 100%. Just be "warned" that it is there. I remember the LOL-nonsense back when the game came out on places like GAF, where people were bitching and moaning about it. The same people who liked the PSone games the best. :lol

That is much better than Pimp My Ride.

meh, I'm on a PS1 kick lately anyway and did enjoy Tenchu 1, so no problems on the draw distance. Gonna try it out and see if I can get back into Tenchu.

Tenchu 4 videos. Looks like RE4 + Tenchu or something like that, so basically awesome.

okay, tried Tenchu PSP. Couldn't handle it. Not just the draw distance, which is a pain to deal with, but the controls too. Needs that second analog stick.
