... we're not going to condone specifically trolling for our fledgling community. If there's a reason to name drop this place or if it's good fun and approved by other forums, that's one thing. And Shake's stunt, albeit funny, was brought home by Mandark as not truly a constructive effort towards our goal. We ask you all to exercise a little bit of common sense when talking about this place or anything related to it in the future. That does not mean do not talk about, because by all means, we want you to spread the seeds of awesomeness across the Internet wasteland, just mind what you're saying to whom.
We're not going to hold anyone accountable for what they do elsewhere, though.

It was never a goal for this forum to be some sort of anti-GAF place (despite its title). While the thread may have been funn, it didn't serve any purpose outside of getting a couple of yucks, getting "evilbore" banned, and getting Shake banned.

No, certainly not their posters -- most of us hail from GAF, of course. But I thought the idea behind these forums, the "No censors. No ads. No respect." thing was a direct comaprison to GAF and how many of us feel strongly about their administration. Should we now try to get on their good side just beacuse they've put off any further viral marketing attempts on their own forums?

It's not a matter on getting on their good site, and that will always be the case as long as we carry that name. We're a direct comparison to places that restrict too much and yes, a lot of it is due to resentment from GAF. I'm not hanging you out to dry, but White Man was right. This was totally not constructive, just momentarily humorous. This is less to do with what you did, but it sets a precedent that we need to correct here.

That thread was basically a joke thread, with Willco trying to market this site ( :P) through the picture links. That's all.
We're not doing some Judgment Day shit against GAF, that would be pointless. And probably most harmful to EvilBore.

I have to admit, I was laughing the whole time until Mandark's statement lead me to stop and think for a second.
Most of the OT posters at GAF are probably aware of Evilbore's existence, therefore this wasn't worthwhile advertising. Evilore knows about. This forum's had a perfectly good first week -- it didn't need further, undue attention from Evilore or GAF. Just look at the resulting thread: most of the posts are from people registered here. If you want to do pointless circle jerks, don't blow your wad on another forum.

Guys, honestly this shouldn't even be a debate.
1) That was a JOKE THREAD which, at the time, had plenty of people's blessing, as well as their participation.
2) Its not an act of war against GAF, and there's no reason for Evilbore to even worry about GAF.
3) If you don't happen to like GAF or OA, you can post here. But don't go trying to start shit with GAFfers who may not feel inclined to join this forum.

Speaking from a non-member's POV, though, having Drinky's "Amsterdam" pic and the "Evilbore: No censors. No adds. No respect." motto seems to be giving GAF the one-two punch. They don't have access to the forum itself, so how are they supposed to know any different?

I preferred Tootertown. You can't honstely think that the name Evilbore makes it look like we are neutral to GAF. I understand that we have a policy of not talking about GAF, but what do you think the first impression Evilore had when he heard the name? He probably never even bothered looking at this site once he heard the name. You have a policy about not talking about or hating on GAF, but the very name of the forum goes against it.

Sign up and find out. You just illustrated one of the other reasons it was selected -- its controversial. As far as I'm concerned, I haven't heard anyone go, "AN EVILORE HATE BOARD I AM NOT SIGNING UP FOR THAT?" If anything, they sign up to find out what the fuck it's about. If they don't like it, then they move on. If they do, they stay on.
Both the image and the name are an homage to Drinky and MAF's last words, not an assault on GAF. That'd be meaningless.

Not really. It's a term coined by MAF that doesn't describe the forum in general whatsoever. And you have a pic that Drinky posted that got him banned. If anything, these are about freedoms.

I don't know. I can see how the name is coming off as being spiteful, but it's pretty clear it was just meant to be a tie-in to GAF.
I mean, the whole point of this place was to invite people from GAF who were regulars, but had a problem with some of the ways the place is moderated, or didn't like the censoring and ads, right?
So a name that ties into it makes sense, though people who don't post here might label it as another OA right off the bat.
The GAF thread is dumb, people had their fun, it came off making this forum look bad, which is unfortunate, but that's the way the cookie crumbled :cookie
