I had a couple timeouts, but mostly around 5 hours ago.

Yeah the site's IP address was not reachable but so was quite a few other american sites I visit.

Maybe teh interwebs cable that connects Poland with US went kaputt?

Probably a temporary routing issue somewhere in between your location and Evilbore's location. Depending on what hops your packets take, if a company in between that your data goes through has an issue or makes a routing change, things can get confused.
