Title: I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT (It's always sunny in Philadelphia)
Post by: T234 on October 23, 2008, 03:00:08 PM
I just watched my first episode: Who pooped the bed?

Thoughts:

:lol @ "My legs get hot"
:rofl @ the econ major
:rofl @ the poop art gallery
:rofl @ the bleached asshole chick's second explanation

Is that chick really just named the waitress?

This show sucks.

The first two seasons were brilliant. This season, not so excellent. I liked it better when it was about some douchbags doing things douchebags do. Now, it's nearly all about being outrageous.

No, the entire show is brilliant. Just brilliant. Probably some of the best comedy I've ever seen.

Less episodes actually make it more refreshing whenever it returns, too.

I've been watching the 3rd season. I'm not totally sold on it. I mostly like it, but basically the 3 guys are interchangeable. Dennis and Mac, particularly. If they weren't writing the show or whatever, would they even have both those characters?  The dialog isn't particularly sharp either.

I think they should have taken a bit of a Mayall/Edmondson route with this. But this is America, where everything is milked to death at a fast clip, irrespective of how much and how quickly the material degrades into pop culture slush.

Dane Cook Variety Hour

We get it.  You're zany.  You're immoral.  You are losers that have no future outside of the latest harebrained scheme.  You have a foul mouthed female who feigns disgust until she can benefit from it personally.

I don't get the praise for this show and I don't get how someone can hate Dane Cook and love this show.  Its the same material!

I watched the first 2 seasons of this show because everyone here and on GAF seems to love it and I honestly think it's not that funny. There were a few episodes that had some pretty funny moments, but it's pretty meh overall. I don't see how the same episode formula managed to go on for another 2 seasons.

I don't know, 30 Rock is way funnier to me.

Wow, I knew haters for this show would be inevitable but I didn't think so many would just show up out of the blue all at once like this.  :lol

Yep, the turnaround time on backlashing is getting faster and faster. I dunno, I just enjoy it for what it is. And there truly is nothing on TV remotely like it at the moment.

Last night's ep had Sinbad AND Rob Thomas, and a dead hobo twitching in Charlie's hallway. Haters pwned.

To be fair, I've been bashing for the show for a while now.

I normally like that kind of humor but Sunny has never clicked with me.  The situations present a potential to be funny but it almost rarely is.  The only episode that I found somewhat enjoyable was when one of those guys tried to hit on women at an abortion clinic.

I don't think there is a backlash either.  With more exposure, you're going to have more people who like it and more people who don't.
