THQ Announces Acquisition of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand

World's Top Hip Hop Artist 50 Cent Unleashes Non-Stop Action in Videogame for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Featuring Intense Combat, Online Co-Op and Exclusive New Music Tracks

AGOURA HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced the acquisition of the publishing rights for 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand for the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION(R)3 computer entertainment system. The highly anticipated sequel to the multi-million unit selling title 50 Cent: Bulletproof, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand will put gamers in the role of world famous hip hop artist 50 Cent as he, and members of G-Unit, battle their way across two war-torn countries on a mission to collect payment from a crime cartel boss. 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand is currently scheduled for worldwide release in early 2009, featuring run and gun shooter game play, brawler style combat, online co-op and eighteen exclusive new 50 Cent tracks.

"50 Cent is a cultural icon and one of the biggest names in hip hop. THQ is thrilled to be working with him on this exciting new title," said Brad Carraway, vice president, global brand management, THQ. "Combining intense single player combat, drop-in and drop-out online co-op and never-before-released music tracks makes this the ultimate package for gamers and hip hop fans alike."

"Blood on the Sand has non-stop action and exclusive music tracks from me and the G-Unit that you won't find anywhere else," said 50 Cent. "Plus our fans will be able to play together with online co-op, and maybe even join me or one of the G-Unit online."

About 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 puts gamers in the role of 50 Cent and features intense 3rd person action shooter gameplay, online drop-in and drop-out co-op multiplayer, brawler combat with interactive counter-kills, along with vehicle and helicopter combat. Developed by Swordfish Studios using the Unreal 3 game engine technology, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand will also include eighteen exclusive new 50 Cent tracks, as well as previously released songs and music videos. The game will feature the voices and likenesses of 50 Cent and G-Unit's Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and DJ Whoo Kid. For more information, please visit www.thq.com/50cent.

The game looks pretty good and I'm a sucker for games that have hilarious, over the top stories. It doesn't hurt that it also happens to be from the same developer that made Cold Winter, so it can't be entirely awful. I'll probably pick it up when it's closer to thirty bucks.

Hopefully it sells like shit(probably wont) and he just becomes a face of Saints Row 3, sort of like Tera Patrick was.

Shit, distinguished black fellow, what about Ghostbusters?

Apparently Atari is going to pick it up, so expect it to tank horribly due to awful marketing. I was kinda hoping EA to pick them up along with brutal legend.
It's all hearsay until I fucking hear it. nicca.

It's pretty damning when this game looks to be better than GTAIV
Technically speaking, the visuals ARE pretty solid.  I highly doubt the maps are anywhere near as large as what you saw in GTAIV, though, as this IS UE3.

I would just like to take this opportunity to give a shout-out to Cold Winter, easily one of the best console FPS's of last-gen.

I'm just saying that this is probably going to be the Stranglehold to Gears of War's Max Payne.

I respect 50 Cent more as a video game character than as a rapper.

There should be an EMINEM game:

1) Do a palette swap on fiddy-cent's main character
2) Put in better music.
3) PROFIT.
