Old news, but I just got the memo:
"Hong Kong Garden" Siouxsie & the Banshees Oct. 28, 2008
"Kiss Them for Me" Siouxsie & the Banshees Oct. 28, 2008
"The Killing Jar" Siouxsie & the Banshees Oct. 28, 2008
While I think we all would have preferred "Peek-A-Boo" or "Spellbound" over the obnoxious "Hong Kong Garden", this has to be the most delighted I've been about DLC news since RB1 launched. I'll buy the whole pack just to show my support.
At last, mild confirmation that there's some old-school goths at Harmonix :) Hopefully it won't take until next Halloween before we can start playing some Sisters of Mercy and Bauhaus. "Bela Lugosi's Dead" would have probably been better Halloween DLC, but I don't think most people would have stood for the bizarre 6 minute guitar jam in the middle of it.
In other news, the "20 Free Songs" that come out week after next look weak. As I predicted (not that it was much of a stretch to predict), it's all crap you've never heard of.....

20 Free songs sounds good to me

I don't really like Bela Lugosi's Dead aside from as mood music. It's too long and it's not interesting enough to justify its length. I'd like their punchier songs, like She's in Parties, Passion of Lovers, Terror Couple Kill Colonel, Stigmata Martyr, and St. Vitus Dance.

Bela Lugosi's Dead would have been a cool treat if it were free -- though I think the label that owns the rights to the original recording has been lording over it for decades (which is why the LIVE Bela Lugosi appears on Best Of discs). The best Bauhaus pack would be Dark Entries, She's in Parties, and Ziggy Stardust (just because I doubt Harmonix will ever pony up for the Bowie original, and I want to finally get rid of my copy of GH1).

If this is the best EA can do to prevent me from buying used games, then I guess it's time for me to finally get a Gamestop GAMERZ EDGE card.
"Ashes to Fire" The Ghost Hounds
"Bounce" Cab The Cab
"Burn You Down" Opiate for the Masses
"Crazy Tuesday" Thenewno2
"Database Corrupted" Dealership
"Desperate Times, Desperate Measures" Underoath
"Get It On" Chevelles The Chevelles
"Give It to Me" Cocktail Slippers The Cocktail Slippers
"I Wanna Be Your Man" Endeverafter
"I'm Gone, I'm Going" Lesley Roy
"I.V." X Japan
"If I Ain't Got You" Len Price 3
"Like a Fool" Shaimus
"Magnetic Baby" Semi Precious Weapons
"No Regrets" Authority Zero
"Prequel to the Sequel" Between the Buried and Me
"Sons and Daughters" The 88
"The Feeling" Kutless
"The Time Is Wrong" Tickle Me Pink
"Young" Hollywood Undead

(not that it was much of a stretch to predict),
well because they told us it would be unknown bands directly.

20 free songs sounds good to me. I dunno how its really different from the unknown crud that Guitar Hero 1 and 2 had.

I don't keep up with RB2 news - it seemed like plenty of people were holding out hope that they would get some known artists as bonus tracks (probably no hits, but maybe B-sides). Did they really say that all the bonus stuff was going to be from "unknowns"? Authority Zero has been around for years and had some songs that charted and got a lot of mainstream radio play.....must suck for them to be referred to as an unknown ;)

People are distinguished mentally-challenged. They already said several weeks ago that the 20 free songs would be new or lesser known bands, but people were "bububububu, maybe they mean bands that are new to Rock Band, like Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, and Van Halen!" Because goodness knows Harmonix probably has all kinds of big time bands waiting in the wings, whose songs they'd like to give away for free and not charge any money for.

I've heard of Underoath and the song in the pack is on the new CD that came out not too long ago.

I was expecting Holiday in Cambodia but that's all since dissapeared ever since it got leaked in the first RB2 screenshots.

Plus, hey, there's always the utterly contemptible habit of peeps complaining about getting free stuff. Don't want it? Don't download it!
I'm still stunned that it only cost US$5 to port all of RB1 songs (except those 3) for use in RB2, and presumably RB3 whenever that comes out.
