This shit is long but is a pretty amusing comedy of errors, unless you are me.
TLDR Version for Powerslave at the end....
I got screwed by Best Buy last year and got an email address from T234 to one of their corporate heads. Yesterday it was bugging me that not only had they screwed me, I still haven't received my promised $50 gift card for my failed hd-dvd player. I fired off this email yesterday...
To whom it may concern,
I am writing in hopes that this may help resolve a matter that has lingered for nearly a year. During this time, I have resolved not to shop at your store or on your site unless there is a clearance item. As an avid videogame consumer, music lover, and high definition owner, this was hard, but it is a necessary step. Please understand that if this matter is not resolved to my satisfaction that I will not shop in your stores or website again. I am only 32, and plan to live a long life. Please give me a few minutes of your time to explain my situation.
On 11/26/07 I placed an order on your website for a christmas present. When placing this order, I noticed that my delivery address for my account was out of date. I corrected my address and placed the order, the total was $102.88. The following morning, I checked up on the order to see if it had processed. It was not yet processed, but I noticed the order still had the wrong delivery address, only the billing address had been updated. Immediately I sent an email to Best Buy and even called your customer service. I was told that even though the items had not yet shipped, it was too late to change the shipping address. I was asked to wait until the packages were returned and they would ship them to my new address.
I contacted the Post Office and my old address but was unable to secure the delivery of three packages. One package was returned and credited to my account. The total was $27.87 and it posted on 12/19.
The other two packages were never returned, and the Post Office had no record of them being returned. I contacted Best Buy and after several weeks of arguing with email customer service I was offered my money back or a reshipment of the items. I told them to reship the items as they were a Christmas gift. Unbelievably, Best Buy reshipped the items to the old apartment address on 12/27/07 and not my 'billing address' as I had repeatedly asked. I have email transactions of these conversations. The customer service representative even implied that I was lucky not to be charged again for the reshipment of these items.
I again contacted the Post Office and my old apartment complex, even going so far as to threaten police action against the resident in my old building. I was unable to secure the packages again.
At this point I was very frustrated and contacted Best Buy directly. As I started complaining (this was on Friday January 4) the customer service representative told me I could expect a full refund of the remaining balance on the order. I went home that weekend very satisfied.
However, when the refund never posted on Monday, I called back and was told that I would not be getting a refund and that they had no record of my call. However, they had already talked to 9 other cases of similar fashion where people had been told they would get a refund while no record was made at Best Buy. They would have to check the tapes.
I never heard from your company again. By my accounts, your company owes me $75.01 for this order.
In another, unrelated note, I bought an Xbox 360 HD-DVD player from your store and still have a copy of the receipt. It was within the date to qualify for your generous $50 gift card program when HD-DVD failed. I waited in hopes that it would arrive without having to do anything, like your company asked people to do, but it never came. I called your company in June and gave them my information. They once again said they would contact me, but I never heard back from them. Unsurprisingly, I never got the gift card either.
I can provide email transcriptions and other proof if necessary, also I can provide order dates and numbers. I also can provide my receipt for the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player. I hope you can help restore my faith in your company. At this point I'm not counting on anything though. Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
James from Customer Service Headquarters called me today, and within 15 min they had credited $75.01 to my bank account and promised to send the $50 gift card via 2nd day air. I'm glad Best Buy is off the shit list, although I'm sure he saw the 22" monitor I bought there last month. Thanks to T234 again for the address, his connection took care of everything.
TLDR: Best Buy shipped a package of DVDs to an old address after I updated the address. I saw this the next morning and called them asking them to change the order. Even though the order was processed they said it was 'too late' and to wait for the package to get returned. It didn't. I argued with them and finally got them to reship the package. They did, to the same old address. I went livid. I was told on the phone my money was returned. The following Monday I was told a disgruntled employee was fucking with me and I wasn't getting my money. I didn't get a $50 gc. I emailed the guy T234 told me to and I got everything taken care of in 15 min.

Bitch my company better be off your shit list. You wanna know who that disgruntled employee was? Heh...

You cannot be the disgruntled employee as you do not live in India.

I can't tell if that's sarcasm or seriousness. Do the captain hat, sunglasses, and cigar actually look real to you? This new webcam I got is awesome then!

lol story of my life, it's a little of both
I actually thought you might have photoshopped the cigar over a roach but if not then carry on, captain!
-
weird, i just got my $50 HD DVD gift card the other day after nine months

Yeah, this is an old thread.
I read and posted in your thread, when I read it I thought for just an instant I may have gotten a GC too as Best Buy processed these things in bunches. I pretty much dismissed that idea though, but lo and behold, it was there.
So I got two.

At least Best Buy tries to hide the fact by giving their India reps American sounding names. I emailed Amazon's customer service last week and got an email back from Harish.
