Title: Help me fix this old ass laptop

I got an old Compaq Presario which I'm trying to fix here, I formatted it and whenever I get to the Windows setup screen it freezes after it reaches 100% on the "preparing the Windows 98 Setup Wizard" 

I looked into it and found this thread:

zardiw (starting at post 6) describes the problem perfectly, however his solution didn't work for me.
