I don't know why, but I do. I think Max Payne might have the best bathrooms, since you can use the toilets AND sinks. On the other hand, supposed "epic" games like Bioshock and Dead Space don't have flushable toilets. Total bullshit.
---Update---
(http://i36.tinypic.com/fk4hhl.jpg)
- Max Payne - also sinks and showers
- Duke Nukem 3D- can be used or broken open for a health boost
- Prey
- Vector Castle
- No More Heroes - save point, actually uses toilet
- Portal - very beginning of game
- Final Fantasy III/VI - sprite uses toilet
Please post more to add to the list. Include important details such as the location details (if necessary), whether you can use toilets or if they just get flushed, whether you can use sinks, showers, hairdryers etc.
Also looking for some superlatives-- first flushable toilet in a game, toilets with actual water physics etc.
-
Duke Nukem 3D has the best toilets in any game ever.
-
I remember thinking 'holy shit, how cool is this' back in the day, when Vector castle had flushable toilets.
-
No More Heroes :heartbeat
-
haha YES
-
Prey has the best toilets in any game ever.
fixed
-
You betcha, mundane shit always jumps to the top of my list to check in any game.
I remember being blown away, just astonished that I was able to check my sock drawer in Shenmue, that I had virtual socks to look at. OMG!
-
Updated OP. This is going to be a master list of games where you can flush toilets (plus other usable bathroom facility details.)
Toilet flushers unite
-
Duke Nukem 3D has the best toilets in any game ever.
This, and you can break them and drink the water for health points, or flush them and get health points. :-*
-
Yes, it's great fun. I also like to test light switches as well.
-
In Fallout 3, you can drink out of the toilets.
-
i did that in bioshock and was disappointed by the water effects.
-
The better question is do you try to flush every toilet you see in RL as a result of videogames?
-

you can flush them in bioshock? maybe I'm confusing it with some other game made by lazy devs that don't put in toilet flushing.
-
I'll remember to check from now on.
And playing Dead space I made the realization that bathrooms are the scariest places ever. All those stalls just leave you waiting for something to kill you.
-
yes, and it's pretty early in the game too.
-
Im sure you can flush toilets in a lot of adventure games, like Leisure Suit Larry and Space Quest and shit
-
yes, and it's pretty early in the game too.
yeah, the scene when the chick who's too jacked up on drugs to perform is in a bathroom...I remember trying to write things in the wall with the wrench + damage textures in there.
-
lets try and find the first game with flushable toilets. Earliest I can think of is FF3 (snes), but I'm positive there are some NES games where you can. Those adventure games that scenester mentioned too...
-
I sadly never got to play it, but I'd be surprised if there's no flushable toilet in Day of the Tentacle.
-
in Dead Rising you take a piss at a urinal to save your game
does that count?
-
I sadly never got to play it, but I'd be surprised if there's no flushable toilet in Day of the Tentacle.
there is, most of the puzzles involve flushing items down time travelling toilets. I shit you not. No pun intended. No homo
-
ah, that's better
-

Haven't played that either but Maniac Mansion definitely does

That's right, now I remember the toilets from screenshots in reviews of the time. That game must have been so awesome. :'(
-
FF7 in that restaurant in Wall Market, there's some guy taking a dump in the bathroom.
-
in Fallout 3 you can't flush them, but you can drink from them for health
-
Its Duke Nukem 3Ds fault that I do this...
I didn't spot the toilets in Bioshock, but I know where they must be. The toilets with the hole in the wall in the bar right? I did turn the sink on and off...
Day of the Tentacles' toilets are weird. They're just holes in the floor. While I do love the Cron-O-Johns, I'm glad no toilet I've ever used has been like that... the toilets at the Reading and Leeds festivals come pretty close though.
-
In Fallout 3, you can drink out of the toilets.
You can also sit on them. I roleplayed in an outhouse last night. :lol
-
there's a recurring joke in the Silent Hill series that involves the main characters sticking their hands in dirty, filty toilets
-

You know, of all games that should have toilets but don't, Shenmue must be at the top of that list.

Why should Shenmue have toliets ??? Given what they are they're disgusting. Can't ruin a masterpiece with a toilet.

Any game that has sock drawers should be required to have toilets.
Toilets come before sock drawers in any basic game design. Look how many more games have toilets than sock drawers for proof.
-
Could you use the toilet in Assassin's Creed? I can't remember.
-
I don't recall there being any toilets in AC.
-
bump
-
Haha, this is a pretty great topic that I didn't catch the first time around.
-
I know the Fallout 3 toilets have been mentioned, but I wanted to chime in about them. When I first came across a toilet and it said "Use toilet" I thought cool, you can use the toilets in this game! Imagine my chagrin when my character proceeded to drink from the toilet. :-\

MLB 09 on PSP is pretty damn good. Hard to believe it's 1. on the PSP and 2. a handheld baseball game.

Wrong thread?

Thought I was posting in the what you are playing thread.

In FFVII you can't flush the toilet but you climb on top of it to get into a restroom vent. I know it's not the same thing but if there's one thing I wouldn't want to do it's climb into a restroom vent that smells like shit.

zomg blast from the past
stealth edit: page 2 fml
-
The toilets in CoD4 cannot be flushed.
just thought I'd give everyone fair warning before purchasing the game.

One of the first things you can do after the tutorial in riddick is flush a toilet
-
We should make a XBLA toilet flushing game and then an app for the itouch. We'll be millionaires. :hyper
-
I don't recall there being any toilets in AC.
Isn't there one in your bedroom/cell in the real world?
-
In Fallout 3, you can drink out of the toilets.
Holy crap. It never dawned on me that this was what the character did. I thought "How is he gaining Rads from DEFECATING or FLUSHING a toilet? Ass in close proximity to a radiation source? Why not make it a toxic region like the puddles, then?"
:gag
:ack
Gross.

You can flush the toilets in Deus Ex: Invisible War. There's no animation or effect though, just the sound.

This comparative lack of toilet-flushing technology explains the lack of sales.
-
Surprisingly enough, devs always seem to cheap out on the toilet. Even in the age of UE3, euphoria physics, and parallax comparative bump mapping animation, they often settle for the toilet flush sound, rather than going the whole nine yards. it's a sad state of affairs and as the problem worsens, it forces me to contemplate why I even stick with this hobby.
-
It's a slippery slope. Now you want the devs to put in the water, not just the sound. First a rotating spiral texture will be enough, then you'll want real-time, centripetal force influenced water physics... next year you'll be wanting to be able to pee into it, and the year after you'll be insisting that the pee stream influence the bowl's own water physics. In five years, Havok will have a plug-in JUST for toilet physics.
-
If the toilet is in the southern hemisphere, it needs to flush in reverse too. and the game should offer an unlockable machine that makes it flush the way it does in 'merica.
-
The toilets in Riddick Butcher Bay were flushable, but it was just a cheapo sound effect.
-
Yeah but if you flushed all of the toilets in the cell block, there's an easter egg picture of some of the developers that goes up in the courtyard.
-
Ah, didn't know that. That is pretty neat.

Yeah, your guy makes the same sipping/slurping noises as he does at a waterfall. :-\
