Yes, you pleb. If you ask nicely, I can burn you some DVDs; my HDD recorder still has the first 15 eps or so from broadcast. It's not dejihousou or anything, just regular ANAL-OH-GEE.

I like the Knight Rider remake that is going on now, but how much more awesome would it have been if KITT was a transforming cell phone?? :hyper

There's a full 51 episodes of fightin cell phones. Its a currently ongoing series.
oh, and Mamoru Oshii and Shusuke Kaneko (Godzilla: GMK, 90's Gamera films, those too popular Death Note movies) both guest directed at least one episode. Freaking Oshii did this!

Certain regions may have a sizable fan base, depending on where you at.

i think the flavor of the show might be Out of Range of American audiences.
and the problem with keeping shows on the air today is that so many viewers today are Roaming Charges, just flipping the station whenever they like.
furthermore, moving a Japanese tv show so far Out of Area from its country of origin might make for a Bad Connection to American audiences.
and in further cell phone entertainment related news, perhaps you weren't all aware that there's been a recently released Hong Kong made official remake of Cellular.

the cell phone/action genre is obviously booming in all parts of Asia.

You hear that chirp?! You hear how clear that is?!

Its like the Japanese equivalent of creating a cartoon to sell shitty action figures.
I think the japanese equivalent of creating a show to sell action figure, is a show to sell action figures. This is some next level shit.
selling cell action figures
they just squared it

wowzers , i was completely in the dark that there were THAT many differences.
dude, the guy who wrote that article came to Thursday night drinking club! I totally geeked out with him about Maniac Mansion
and that's just the NES version; the Famicom version had worse graphics, more changes, no good music, and a like 100-character password (EDIT: 104). it was a COMPLETELY different port by a Japanese company, can't remember who right now. it came out three years before the NES version.
so yeah, calling the Famicom version "kusoge," while disappointing, is not really unwarranted

The mansion contains a number of arcade video games. One was called KILL THRILL. The name had to be changed. Doug Glen, our Director of Marketing, suggested that we change it to MUFF DIVER, which I thought was a pretty good idea. Unfortunately, I later became aware of the NES Game Standards Policy, which stated in part:
Nintendo will not approve NES cartridges...with sexually suggestive or explicit content
Yikes, MUFF DIVER had to be changed again. In order to minimize the impact on the artwork, I needed to substitute MUFF with another four letter word that was less suggestive that could make sense with DIVER. We settled on the word TUNA.
:lol

You know, I'd read that Maniac Mansion article before and also read some of Crockford's libelous (http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/roadmap/archives/2008/04/popularity.html) JavaScript stuff, but never realized they were the same person.
