Title: Obama inauguration evilbore meet-up?
Post by: The Fake Shemp on November 07, 2008, 11:13:33 PM
I've decided that I'm definitely going to go to the inauguration for the President-elect.  How many opportunities do you have to see an even of this historical magnitude?  Anyone else game?

Where does the inauguration take place?  Is it actually open to the public?

Takes place in D.C.

There are always tons of activities and stuff planned around the parade.  And you can request free tickets for the swearing in ceremony from your Congressman.

My brother and his wife are going.  And I guess their terrible children, as well.

I've thought about going.  I would imagine it would be hard to find hotel rooms, tho.  Then again I do have friends in DC and Alexandria.

Just shot off e-mails to my Senator and Congressman for tickets to the swearing-in ceremony.  The Mall will be open to the public, though.

I did some data entry and canvassing for newly elected NC Dem Senator Kay Hagan, so I figured I might as well email her and my Congressman, Mike McIntyre.  We'll see!  If I get tickets, I'll definitely go.

I work like 20 minutes outside DC. I was definitely considering making the trip. As you say, historic occasion.

the secret service is probably going to empty their bowels into their collective pant suit over security.

those of us that can't meet up and go are going to hear about how a terrorist plot was uncovered, how they're investigating this forum, and the MAF symbol will become the new symbol of terrorism as a moral panic grips the nation.

I was thinking that but didn't wanna say it. :(

It's excellent that we've come so far in this country to have a black president-elect, but it's awful because there's a good chance his little girls will grow up without their dad.

I'll be able to walk into DC from my place in Arlington for it, but I'm afraid I won't be able to get a ticket if they're needed.  I'll email my congressman and senator but I dunno what the odds are.  I'd LOVE to be there.  And I'd be down for a meet-up too  :-*

I'll at least walk into the city for the parade.  So exciting! :hyper

The odds for us locals to the metropolitan area getting tickets is slim because everyone wants to attend the swearing-in ceremony.  That said, there's no reason why we can't meet up on the Mall and enjoy the parade and festivities.
