Title: Why don't film directors ever run for office?
Post by: recursivelyenumerable on November 08, 2008, 04:38:33 PM
Actors can do it, and obviously there's a connection between actoring and politicianing, but directors understand acting and also have some experience running film productions, which sort of resemble campaigns in a way.

Wouldn't the more natural question be why directors don't run campaigns?

I would vote for Michael Bay in 2012

If Chris Nolan was born in America, you know all the TDK fanatics would vote for him if he ran.

Voters are more likely to be familiar with actors, who they see on screen or in tabloids, than with directors. Spielberg and Lucas are probably the only directors who would be recognized by most voters. And being photogenic helps a candidate; actors are usually much more attractive than directors.

Has there ever been a decent politician who started out in acting?

The way it works is President Bay gives every citizen a pair of green flares that are used if you need help.  Simply ignite the flairs and hold them towards the air so the green smoke alerts the jets overhead that you need support.  I know that Senator Ratner used this in various slander ads saying that people couldn't adopt this new method of '911', but it was proven by Vice President Emmerich that it in fact saves billions of dollars each year.
