I went from being disappointed by the concept, to thinking the demo was fairly good, to loving the full game.

Right on

What surprises me about this game is how much my ass is getting handed to me.  I used to be able to plow through those games.  I've already cleared two characters in Official Mode but man...

Good stuff though.

The Official Mode stuff is the hardest since most of those missions require some work to keep the flow of battle where you want it. Original Mode only gets hard in parts where you have to fight Master Asia in a One on One or something. There's also a few 'last boss fights' vs other characters where you have to be pretty defensive about how you fight them. They hit so hard! A lot of the later skills you get are stupid overpowered and certain equipment combined create bonus effects so mix and match.

Yeah, it feels like I have to babysit all of my allies on the map at all times.  There are times when I have to dash from one side of the map to the other so the mission won't fail.  Even then, sometimes the mission just fails anyway.

You'll learn when they really need help, It really isnt until the second UR ALLY needs HALP that you may need to look into them. The first help notice is something to be ignored.

Plus you cant save everyone. As long as they arent essential to the objective, you can probably handle things on your own. There's a leadership skill that can be gained that boost their durability. Still, the faster you kill as you level up, the less problem you will have managing threats since you'll move and kill stupid fast.

Playing Gears 2 this weekend.  Doing one act per day.

Act 1 was zzz and ugly
Act 2 was  :o awesome
Act 3 was dull, had distinguished mentally-challenged vehicle part, and then pretty good, but lolz boss

Act 4 tomorrow!

just finished Gears 2 on Hardcore. There was a couple of tricky shootouts later (only made hard by me foolishly swapping out the sniper rifle). Was definitely an easier game than Gears 1 though (and a much better one a that). Going through and getting the collectibles and the other random achievements now. If I get bored I'll get back to Orange Box

I dont get the complaints about the vehicle sections, I found them pretty fun. Different strokes I guess

I was quite upset about the little game time The Cole Train had, had a few golden lines but nothing as good as Gears 1

Thanks.  I took the advice and beat the level pretty quickly.  I figured that any call would mean that they're almost dead and I should go help.  Probably spent more time dashing from Field to Field than fighting.

I also saw the achievements for the game.  Not sure how much time I need to put in to get all the Skills and 100,000 shot down.  Might take a while but I might be up to it.  Is there a counter where I can see how many I've shot down total?

Yeah its under pilot record, it took me 62 hours to get all the achievements, but to make it sound less horrible I was at 94,000 kills when I beat the very last mission, so its not like you'll grind kills THAT much

I thought Crash 3 was actually better for that reason. I mean Im into hard games as much as the next guy but Crash 1 & 2 fell into the cheap death controller throwing category. That said I did get all the gems in both of them  :pimp

I don't think I ever finished Crash 1, or even touched the sequels.  Same deal with Spyro.  One day I need to go back and try Naughty Dog and Insomniac's old games and see if they're as quality as they future franchises.

Agreed and I also thought the Traveler's Tales Crash platformer was pretty good also.  The Xbox version since the loading was terrible on the PS2 and GC (lol) one.

CTR has yet to be topped

that'll do it!  I do play better when I've taken my provigil.

Alcohol and gaming doesn't work so well for me.  Beer gets warm as it sits there and makes me sluggish, hard liquor makes me want to go out and do something instead of gaming.
