Title: Wisdom Teeth Removal: General or Local anesthesia?
Post by: BlackMage on November 14, 2008, 02:33:48 PM
So Im getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. 2 of them are impacted and I'm getting them done by an oral surgeon. Now after they talked to my insurance company, the prices for all of them to get done are this.

496 with General Anesthesia
428 with Local

seems to me General is the way to go since they knock you out but I'm quite nervous about the whole thing considering I've never been drugged like that before (well at least not by my own means). Is local enough or should I get the gas?

They are actually pulling my teeth because there are spider eggs inside.  Those iraqi camel spiders or whatever.  But yes, like 3 dental threads popped up in 1 minute.

I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth more than a year ago. If you have the option to get knocked out take it. I don't care how much it costs that stuff is horrible to go through awake. The blood is horrible  :'(

Do general. I was knocked out for mine with an IV and whatever they gave me through it. Good times. I woke up feeling amazing.

General, you don't want to be awake when they bring out the pliers...

Local is safer.  Don't get knocked out unless you really have to.

Yes, go General. I did and my oral surgeon did an amazing job. Plus, if you go local, you may freak out at some of the stuff the surgeon may have to do to get the teeth out.
