Post by: MrAngryFace on November 18, 2008, 10:08:34 PM
All 40s music All the Time. Its so creepy listening to this shit. It sounds like it belongs in some abandoned house.

I've loved 1930s-1950s Jazz and Pop Standards for as long as I remember, and have amassed a pretty decent CD collection over the years

glad to see the music filtering back into pop culture again

That's something I never understood with FO3. You mean to tell me that in 200 years no one produced a single piece of music?

i would not like this game nearly as much without the charming style and music

if it had been filled with a bunch of post-1980s bullshit i'd have streamed my own music

Quote
Hey everybody, did the news get around
About a guy named Butcher Pete
Oh, Pete just flew into this town
And he's choppin' up all the women's meat

[Chorus]
He's hackin' and wackin' and smackin'
He's hackin' and wackin' and smackin'
He's hackin' and wackin' and smackin'
He just hacks, wacks, choppin' that meat

Butcher Pete's got a long sharp knife
He starts choppin' and don't know when to stop
All you fellows gotta watch your wifes
'Cause Pete don't care who's meat he chops

All the fallout 3 songs are hilariously fucked up.

yeah, I remember noticing it, like, 20 hours into the game that all the songs all perfectly fit this wasteland.  Great choices by Bethesda.

The only bad thing about the music in Fallout 3 is that there wasn't nearly enough. It would have been awesome if there had been like 50+ songs from that era.

XM and Sirius merged their lineups and it fucking sucks now. Area sucks compared to The System, and no more Move (deep house/minimal). :yuck

Yeah I noticed the stations were all weird now.

Since the merger, I think I'm finally gonna get xm.  I have the player in my car I just need to get a subscription.  This station would be on XM too, right?

- edit -

Hmm...guess not.  Does anyone know if there's an equivalent to Sirius's Channel 4?  I just got really excited over nothing :gloomy

Sirius 4 is just 40's music. Find the XM with 40's music

Yeah, from what I've seen FO3 has an amazing jazz soundtrack.

There's only like one major jazz song in the game

Fallout 3 actually has a station that just plays violin, but you need to do a mission for that.

I heard it was mostly jazz. ???

What are all the 40's music do they play then?

Well sure, theres an element of jazz in them, but most are just big bandy or poppy jingles from the 40s.  Anything Goes is a showtune.

I think Choppin' That Meat is about the jazziest song in the game.

Choppin That Meat is more swing maybe?

Maybe this is my black culture speaking here but I've always classified most big band as a sub genre of jazz.

Wikipedia even confirms it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_band

Big band jazz was very popular in the 40's, and very quite often associated with lindy hopping, a form of swing dancing. Big band is jazz.

I mean, this soundtrack has Billie fucking Holiday on it.
