i'm leaning towards the chun li one.

a. hideous
b. mad catz
buy a joystick, or one of those usb saturn pads that apparently work on ps3
-
If there isn't a normal one, get the Akuma one.
-
The Blanka one's alright.
-
yeah it's madcatz but i'm willing to give them a chance on this one.
and i'm not going to buy a joystick since i prefer using an inferior pad. as for buying a saturn pad, i would if it worked for 360, but since it doesn't, that idea is shot to shit.

If i remember correctly MarkMan is involved with these controllers (at least the arcade stick version) so they should be good (given hes a fighting game nut).
-
Are those wireless?
-
Unless they changed it, the PS3 controllers are wireless while the 360 ones aren't, but they work on the PC since USB.

MarkMan also hates the 360 so they could suck total shit.
Let me also point out that the art for this game is terrible. TERRIBLE.
???
He's not a console warrior, dude. He might have his preferences, but who doesn't.

:bow akuma :bow2

Chun li is the only answer

why the fuck can't i use a saturn/genesis pad on the 360

Because you need to buy a fucking Arcade Stick.

Microsoft is all about proprietary. It's the same reason you can't do wireless on their system without paying a fee (this is why Rock Band 1 PS3 was wireless while the 360 one wasn't)
-
this is a personal megaton
i used to be a huge Sega Genesis Street FighterII cigarillo when i was a kid
i will buy the shit out of this

I can't stand sticks.
D-pad all the way.
-
from what I can tell it's not a d-pad on these SFIV pads, it's more the mini-stick from the neogeo pad.
-
I guess if you have re-re dexterity and can't use a stick, the Chun-Li one is the least offensive to the eyes.
-
chun li is too animeish
ill probably get blanka
-
They're all fugly...might go for the akuma one. hopefully there's a way to take off that decal.
and yeah, markman said they were gonna be similar to the neogeo pocket d-pad/stick thing.
-
no vega pad no buy! :maf
-
Damn, that Akuma pad looks pretty awesome.

The controllers sound great. I'm gonna splurge on XBLA games when I get mine.
-
I love how Green Man says something distinguished mentally-challenged and then the next post is "I know it was distinguished mentally-challenged, I'm just ____"
no, you're just distinguished mentally-challenged

Despite mad catz produced, these are high quality products. They were developed by people who know what they are doing.
The TE Stick will likely be the best stick on the market.
-
the te stick's all sanwa parts, so i have no doubts about its quality, but i'm still kind of skeptical about the pads -- there have been lots of saturn pad clones that aren't nearly as good as saturn pads, and even console manufacturers seem to have lost the knack of making decent d-pads these days
-
I'm just gonna go with the superior DS3.
-
i hadn't tried the ds3 with a fighting game til hd remix, but it seems worse than the ds2 to me -- i had no problems playing guilty gear etc on my ds2
whatever, my hrap 3 will be FULL SANWA in a few days :heart
-
Ryu for the PS3 and Ken for the 360.
I'm such a fag.
-
The DS3 is really starting to piss me off in SSF2THDR, not as much as the 360 dpad, but it's to the point now where I need a joystick to fully enjoy fighting games. So sick of throwing fireballs instead of dragon punches and jumping instead of flash kicks. I don't recall having these kind of issues in previous consoles. :maf
Are any of the joysticks available now as loose as what they are in the arcade? I always seem to end up with sticks that feel too rigid. :-\
-
I'm getting an Akuma one on the 360. Not for SF4 or anything (getting it on PS3 and playing with Saturn pad or VSHG), but for any other game that requires a D-pad. Using it on PC probably too.
I actually spend a while earlier today trying to get accustomed to an arcade stick in 2D fighters, and while I'm still better with a saturn pad, at least I can do almost every move in SF2HD 4 out of 5 times with the exception of some specials. I don't know how to do double half circle or double full circles on a stick.

Last great D-pad was on the Gameboy Micro, but Nintendo let it live and die on that alone.
-
Is ebay the only site where one could get a Saturn USB pad?
-
I'm gonna get the Blanka and Chun-Li pads for the 360, they seem the least offensive and they'll be great to use on the PC.
-
Is this something that you need to preorder to get? Is it limited in production?
-
I don't think the pads or cheaper arcade sticks are limited, just the $150 one.
-
I'm likely going to pick at least one up for each system, but if I can get the cash imma get two on each. I'd consider the (good) joystick if it were universal. Thing is, I've gotten so accustomed to playing fighters with stock controllers that I don't really need one, but it would be nice.
BTW, which platform are 'bores getting this on? I will likely be double-dipping and getting the Asian 360 version ($59.99 with bonus DVD and calender, and comes out five days ahead of the States!) and the U.S. Collector's Edition PS3 version. Already got the 360 version ordered.
-
US PS3 edition
All the arcade sticks, controllers, etc I have are for the PS3. Online is probably going to be better on the 360, but whatever, maybe I'll like it enough to get it on both systems. Or Microsoft could let me use all these USB controllers on the 360.
-
+PS3 CE
+360 RE
+fightpads for both systems
-
ps3. i'm worried about the online after hd remix, but GOTTA USE THAT HRAP3
-
lol ps3
i'm not even going to waste my time trying out both versions only to come to the conclusion that the 360 version is superior yet again
:hyper 360 ce + chun li fightpad :hyper
-
The Akuma pad is hot but I want a Tournament Edition stick myself.
I use a USB Saturn pad on PS3.
-
After doing some research and being turned off by dpads almost completely this gen, I decided to go with the Street Fighter Tournament Edition Arcade Stick. The wallet's gonna hurt but it'll be so worth it considering how many fighting games I play. I would love to use this for SamSho2, hopefully people are still playing it.
-
I say I'll get a stick for it now, but I'll probably just end up getting a pad. I'm so tired of the 360 d-pad.
-
good pads > sticks

I'm just getting the 360 version. If I can boost the invariable online achievements, I'll give you a holler. :-*

good pads > sticks
As someone who has always used pads for 2D fighters and has suddenly started using a stick hoping that it would 'click', well, it did. I'm still much better with my Saturn pad, but I'm now trying getting up to par with a stick and I definitely see the advantages. Biggest one is probably being just as good on the left or right of the opponent. With a pad, I'm not nearly as good on the right.
I'm really hoping that the mad catz pads are as good as they make them out to be. I'd like to make it my PC/emulator controller from now on.
-
i want the stick but i could buy 4 pads for the price of a stick due to our shitty dollar. will make an informed decision later but for now it's 1 akuma pad for 360
-
Nice to hear you can use the 360 ones on PC, I'll pick up one for SF2HD/SF4 and emus on PC. That's worth $40 for me.
-
My EX2 360 stick just broke. Opened it up and the fucking PCB is snapped off around one of the buttons. Garbage. :maf
-
I can't get into sticks. Plus, they're expensive and huge. I pre-ordered the Blanka pad with my 360 copy of Street Fighter IV.
-
Are these pads $40 everywhere?
-
Guess I'm getting a pad then. :D
