Was gonna bump my original thread, but that was from months ago and the search function here is teh suck, so whatever.
Okay, so I'm currently on the third temple/dungeon in seasons, and holy shit. The second (and first to lesser extent) dungeon DESTROYS all of the first 3 in Link's GAYwakening. It's not that they're ultra super brilliant (they might get so as you progress further), just that Capcom seems to have put way more effort at the start, and I expect much better from Nintendo.
:bow Capcom Zeldas :bow2
:piss Lame Nintendo handheld Zeldas :piss2

finally someone has seen the light
these games crap on nintendo's 2d zeldas
-
But Link's Awakening is still better than Minish Cap though.

Correct. Any Zelda game I can finish in an afternoon and that doesn't cause me to pull my hair out with some inane puzzle is trash in my book.

LA might be the better designed game, but I think I enjoyed MC more.

Same
The Oracle games are the best 2d Zeldas by far.
-
LA>>>Oracles>>>>>>>>>>>LTTP
-
LA is like poser's Zelda
"I read once that LA is better than most Zeldas. So, LA>all. It's truth."
not saying you're a poser peedee, but it's the truth.
-
I've never played the Oracle games. I want to play one when I'm free in about a week. Which is better?
-
Ages is the better of the two
I enjoyed both games as I do with all Zelda games (even Phantom Hourglass, which is easily the worst) but I don't think they are as great as you all seem to. Also, I don't get where the whole group think of LA being the best and LTTP being bad came from. Both games are great. I actually did like Link's Awakening so much that I remember making my cousin search his house for the copy I left there to then ship it to the States (Aunt lived in Germany at the time) so I can continue playing it.
-
Link's Awakening was pretty awesome when it came out on the old black & white Gameboy. You didn't really expect much out of those games back then, most of those old games were nearly unplayable garbage. Even the Mario games weren't that great, SML was terrible, SML2 were pretty cool but it was super easy. Link's Awakening was like an honest-to-goodness real game.
-
I always thought Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons were the same as Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue.
So the two Zelda games are totally different?
-

:piss Phagtom Hourglass :piss2
FTFY. Phantom Hourglass was the the only other Nintendo-developed handheld Zelda.
-
if anything it really highlighted how Nintendo is out of touch and Capcom continues to stay strong. Phantom Hourglass is the only Zelda game that I would say bordered on being bad at times. Capcom should take over every 2D Zelda from now on.

Yup. You can somehow merge them together to unlock the true final dungeon and final boss IIRC.
Holy shit that's awesome. I think I'm going try them out.
-
Do you have both the games for gameboy?

I think the internet has them.
No way you can find them in retail or new.

There's not really any point to that now. Flagship, the team that developed the Capcom Zelda's, went down and doesn't exist anymore.
That, coupled with the fact that Nintendo has actually said TP was the last of the "normal" Zelda's, the future of Zelda = pretty much shit.

God, people need to stop saying this. People cite this from a FAKE interview with Miyamoto from like 2005. Reserve judgment until they show the new Zelda for Wii...which who knows, MAYBE will be a big departure. But I don't really think so.

Wait, it was fake?! Buh? Nobody told me this.
-
MC sucked ass.
These two games were excellent, captured the feel and look of Link's Awakening exactly.
I like how they tie into LA too with the boat he's on at the end.
-
The LA love is baffling. I mean, it's by no means a 'bad' game in any stretch. But best Zelda ever? Aside from the story, which isn't as original as it was like 15 years ago, it's rudimentary Zelda to the max.

Um, you probably don't know this, but the director of the 3 Capcom games worked on PH as well. Now, instead of being a dumb Capcom employee, he's now a full fledged, even dumber Nintendo employee. :/
-
I will admit the Oracles games have better dungeons and are more challenging overall. There's a part in Seasons where you have to change the seasons in a specific order to open access to some area; that stumped me as a kid. Whereas the only thing that kinda stumped me with LA was the final boss sequence.
That being said LA is still the best to me. Will I sound like too much of a cigarillo if I admit I loved the story? The music is amazing, I loved the characters, etc; I've beaten it more than any other game. The Oracles are amazing as well, but perhaps the nostalgia factor is too powerful with me and LA.
LTTP on the other hand...meh. I still haven't beat it and it's been collecting dust (with my DS) for months. I've never played Minnish Cap. PH is interesting. The control mechanics are very fluid, the graphic style fits the DS well, sailing is improved over WW...but after a couple weeks I put it down and never picked it up again. It just didn't capture my attention

1/100 chance of that.

That's cool, and I don't got nothing against that. It's just that with all of the LA love, you'd think it came with any new awesome gameplay features or something. However, in many ways it's a step backwards from LttP. Unlike say Majora's Mask where it has that extra layer involved (the 3 day system), I could understand the preference for some people. LA has none of that however, and is probably more similar to the original in that aspect. Again, not trying to dog the game or your preference, but the standard to which all other Zeldas should be held? Come now.
-
Damn, seasons is kicking my ass. Some of these puzzles are the some of the most difficult I've seen for a 2D Zelda. I really like the season mechanic. Nice to see that there's an additional element here instead of being just straight forward like in LA.
Speaking of which, why has LA not been retroactively lambasted for the Oracle games following the same template, like OoT was after TP came out? :punch
-
:lol again
Why do people play the same games over and over? Are you scared of new things?
-
I borrowed Seasons from a friend years ago and forgot to give it back, but I had some fun with it. It's supposed to be the much weaker of the two, right?
-
If you get stuck in Seasons PM me as I beat it last month :-* I missed only 1 Heart Piece (1/5th of a full heart) - all without ever looking at a FAQ.
Will do.
:lol again

Nope. I never finished Seasons and I haven't even started on Ages.
-
So in almost a year you made no progress. Great update I guess
-
Hey, it's not my fault my laptop was broken all this time.
-
You can still do it on an emulator. All you need is the code from each game after you beat each. Actually, the way it goes I think is: You beat one, you receive a code. You enter THAT code into the other game's code screen, which earns you some sort of item or power at the beginning of the OTHER game. You'll beat the second game, and you get another code to enter that makes it possible to challenge Ganon.

Whoa, really? Fucking awesome if true.
Also, Ganon is the final boss? THANKS FOR SPOILING! :maf
edit: Course, that might explain why the Oracles are overlooked compared to LA.
-
Sorry, I thought that was common knowledge. I wont spoil how it happens though
-
* except link's awakening
* and zelda 2
* and majora's mask
-
and phantom hourglass
-
that's not a zelda game
-
HOLY SHIT GANON IS THE FINAL BOSS OF ZELDA MEGA SPOILER
