I thought it was kind of overrated and had to spend a lot of money too to make sure it was the real stuff.

there's a place in nyc that claims to see the "real" stuff with wormwood

I think it's legal now, wormwood and all.

I remember buying an expensive bottle with a few of my friends.  Making sure we made sure it was the stuff with wormwood, it is a very different drunk than other alcohol.  Hard to describe it but I felt a lot more "floatier" if that makes sense.  Never hallucinated though.  A friend claimed that she thought the room was full of water but she is often full of shit.  Given the cost of the stuff, I was only able to get drunk off of it twice, never tripping out the entire time.

Don't buy it.

people who bullshit about it ("I was totally tripping dude") and illegality make it pretty overhyped in the U.S.

I would agree its more floatier and head heavy than other drinks.
