Probably won't get it though but it's nice to live in a world where I could play yet another PC game on thé platform where it belongs.

Wasted my fuckin money on this PC
-
At first I thought this was going to be a mess, but after the video interview it sounds like it's going to be good even if you own the PC version.
-
No reason to own a PC anymore.
You still need one to get on the Internet with....oh. Sorry.
-
$60 console version

This game runs like crap on my PC, but Crysis runs buttery smoothe

Yeah, the PC version ran horribly on my PC :( I wanted to get into it too. I may pick up the console version if I don't upgrade my PC before it comes out.

Celebrating this news by buying a quad core processor.
-
Yay! But I really want stalker.
i would say stalker is almost redundant now fallout 3 is out
-
I thought Stalker Clear Skies was like a competent shooter?
And stalker doesn't copy paste so much?
-
No reason to own a PC anymore.
If your a Wow Carebear.
-
lol console gaming.
lol i'm gonna buy this game for the 3rd time on the 360.
-
STALKER isn't really like Fallout 3 other than they both take place some time after a nuclear explosion. STALKER is also a lot more linear than Fallout 3 and is a better shooter than it. Fallout 3 is a better than general tho.
-
Outside of the nuclear BS, I always thought that Stalker had more in common with Far Cry 2 than Fallout 3.
-
i'd agree with that.
-
Now I want to start playing Far Cry 2
also, I never understood why people would hate on the shooting in stalker. maybe I'm just crazy and enjoy adjusting my shot several mm up to take angle of decent into consideration. Well, if you do go run and gun it is a bit bad, but I would snipe, so it wasn't an issue for me.
-
shooting was fine- can you turn off the walking bob thing in Stalker Clear Sky? Its pretty extreme and makes me kinda sick lol
-
the problem with stalker was you were weak as piss at the start and there were tons of guys. later on it was less of an issue.
i just mentioned stalker because of the nuclear stuff and its a much better game. as said before Far Cry 2 is probably a more appropriate comparison
-
I don't remember. I still have to go back and finish Clear Sky but from what I've played it was still great. There are a lot of subtle changes to the game, probably the two biggest that there are now factions and relics now are invisible until you find them with some tracking device. The inventory system is still great.
actually, another big difference between stalker and fallout 3 (don't know if FC2 has this or not) is the lack of a house you can stash things in. The sense of desperation is a lot bigger since you can't just pick up every weapon and stash them for later, you really just pick up and drop things as you go along.
-
Yeah, Fallout 3 gives players a lot of breaks, but I think ultimately that rakes in a larger group of gamers. Stalker is a neat experience, but not everyone wants constant tension ;)
-
I've started and not finished Stalker so many times I lost count. Last time it even clicked for me and I got it. Then something else always comes along to distract me.
-
If Stalker has anywhere near as much traveling, unremarkable terrain, and randomly generated guards chasing you as FC2 then my interest just plummeted.
Stalker sounded cool to me because it was supposed to be creepy as hell and had RPGish elements.
-
theres a lot of travelling but its all on foot and there's usually other stalkers or dudes trying to kill you all the time. it's totally unforgiving to start with
-
demi, tell me more about console stalker. real?
Very real. Crysis too.
-
demi, tell me more about console stalker. real?
Very real. Crysis too.
awesome. for release soonish or like 2010+?
-
You'll start seeing stuff next year, yeah
-
No, they will make gameplay additions that make it the more enjoyable experience than the PC snorefest, sorry
See: The Witcher 360/PS3
-
Awesome news, awesome demi ^___^
Crysis I don't know if I'm so interested in. Seems like it will have to be compromised in some way. Plus, didn't they say they would show their engine at GDC 2008 or something and it never appeared? lolz
But Stalker I am definitely interested in. I love that rough, unrefined feeling these Eurodev games have.
I guess I'll have to check for Game informer covers.
-
i never knew where the hell i was going or what the hell i was supposed to be doing in stalker, so i quit playing
-
Hahahaha. I knew waiting would pay off.
-
I got a free copy of The Witcher on PC with a free extended edition upgrade. Let them suck of the money away of the dirty console poors on an inferior port and put this cash towards a superior pc sequel in a couple years!
-
Witcher sold great on the PC, a sequel will be made. :bow2
-
Yeah but the console version will have more content. It's the ultimate version in the end.
little too early to say. I mean, the PC version is pretty poorly optimized, who knows how the framerate on the console versions will fare. I'm also a little skeptical of the revised combat and how movement will work. If it's still that stiff "walk in a straight line" stuff, it would feel pretty wonky with a controller. They need full-on 3rd person controls. also, it's very reliant on point-and-click controls for combat...I wonder if it's going to be more of an action game with combos and different buttons for styles or if they'll do some makeshift point-and-click with a targeting system. The latter would probably suck in big fights.
Control wise, I don't think the game is all that fit for consoles as it is. I hope they do nail it though.
-
Console gamers dont even know what theyre getting, just that PC gamers been talkin bout it!
-
It's not about more or less content, or even obviously better or worse. The video interview makes it seem like it will be a very different game, almost like Far Cry Instincts to Far Cry, except following the same story. The only real thing they've said would be better are the graphics since it's a new engine with more effects and shit like that.
-
I doubt some of the more mature elements of the PC game will make it past SCEA.
-
Awesome. Now I have less of a reason to upgrade my pc.
-
Yes, Himuro .. more money to spend on overpriced peripherials and games that have 10 hours of content. Congrats to you.
-

I was reading an interview from the 1C folk (they are a Russian publishing house that's done very well for themselves the last few years). They actually specifically mentioned that one of the things that their more local customer base likes is difficultly and less hand-holding in their games, and be given the freedom to make decisions, even if it means that their game progress might come to a stunning halt because of a bad one.
Playing though stuff like STALKER or King's Bounty on harder difficulties, you really see that philsophy come through. It is, of course, a huge part of the awesomeness of both of those games.
