It costs ~$105 for my voice and blackberry data plan. That is the lowest voice plan too.

Add taxes on to that $70 for the iphone too.

I think it's robbery that phone companies charge an extra rate for text messages even if you have an unlimited data plan. smh  :maf

BlackBerry Curve can use Opera Mini very, very well and it rocks as a mobile browser.

I pay $80/per month for unlimited data usage, unlimited text and messages, six hundred anytime minutes, free nights and weekends and unlimited minutes to five contacts (MyFaves).  Best plan ever.

As a Canuck, I was tempted until I read all the negative inpressions, coupled with the fact that here (so far) there is no unlimited data plan available for it. Stupid Rogers.

60 to 70 is just about the cheapest smartphone plans come.  I also pay an additional 60 per month for mobile broadband on my laptop ;)

And why would you get an iPhone or smartphone without a data plan?  Of course you want a data plan with it.

I pay $90/month for my iPhone 3G. Unlimited texting and data with visual voicemail or whatever, and I have no idea what my minutes are.

I totally agree with you.  That's the point of using a smartphone.  I was just explaining to GilloD how easy it is to get a 70 plus dollar monthly bill with a smartphone.  My bill is around 89 bux with the iPhone 3g as well.

My wife and I have a family plan through Verizon which is $60 a month (I have an LG Venus, nothing fancy) for two phones. I can't imagine paying more than that. You crazy people and your iPhones and Blackberrys!

Oh okay.

You aren't even paying an Apple premium tax on th iPhone service, GilloD.  That's about how much all smartphone plans are.

I am gay for my iPhone.  I just got rid of my 8525 and got a 3G.  Aside from quibbles with battery life (which really hasn't been an issue so far), I couldn't be happier.

The worst thing about the iPhone is that all of the apps are stupid and/or useless.

I payed like, $40 a month for my T-Mobile plan. I forget how many minutes a month (1200?) but free Nights and Weekends (7pm). Data planes are ridiculous for phones though.

Mine's going to come to just about 70 + tax.  I got the 50 dolla plan along with unlimited text messages (which I never use, but what the heck).  The same plan on my 8525 cost 65 + tax and was identical, but that had a paltry work discount that MYSTERIOUSLY DOES NOT APPLY TO IPHONE.

Yeah after taxes and all that shit, it's about 100 bucks a month for my iPhone with unlimited texting and data. Worth it.

Fully agreed.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
people who bitch about the iPhone are bitter because they have the Samsung touchscreen bullshit and/or a razr

I kid, I kid, but the iPhone is completely worth it

And why would you get an iPhone or smartphone without a data plan?  Of course you want a data plan with it.

I own an (unlocked) iPhone on T-Mobile and have no data plan.  Of course, all I really wanted or needed was a phone with an iPod in it.  I spend maybe $15 a month on prepaid minutes.

The only thing I feel like I'm missing out on is being able to stream internet radio stations in my car, and while that might be awesome to do I don't think it's worth an extra $60 a month.  If I ever need web access, it's not like there isn't a Starbucks with WiFi in my vicinity anyway.

Plus T-Mobile's voice+data+text plan is $65/month, so if I got that there would be almost no point in having an unlocked phone anyway.  Might as well pay the extra $10/month to AT&T and not have to deal with firmware upgrade issues.  Though I hear that AT&T's customer service is the worst in the business, so maybe you'd be better off running an unlocked phone on T-Mobile.

Would be cool if there's ever a point where ones main ISP is someone linked to ones phone or something (crossing of tubes and shit, I realize that its impossible in regards to who owns what and using someones service). I hate the idea of paying for two plans. Having the Internet in reach wherever you are has to be very useful though.
